Then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was determined to keep his big secret about a pending special counsel right up to the day his top candidate, Robert Mueller, sat down with President Trump in the Oval Office. “The boss and his staff do not know about our discussions,” Mr. Rosenstein said in an email to Mr. Mueller on May 12, 2017. Mr. Rosenstein’s “boss” was an apparent reference to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who had stepped away from any role in the Russia probe. This meant that Mr. Trump didn’t know either. Congressional Democrats frequently cited its unverified collusion charges in 2017. Today, Democrats seem to have left the document behind. References to the dossier are nonexistent in “The Threat,” the newly released memoir of former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe. There is also no mention of dossier writer Mr. Steele or Fusion GPS, the investigative firm...

Former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe has scored a book deal for "The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump," according to an announcement from his publisher. McCabe was ousted from the bureau earlier this year after a Justice Department inspector general report concluded that McCabe had lied about his disclosures to media. McCabe has denied the allegations and is currently suing the Justice Department for wrongful termination. The book deal comes just months after former FBI Director James Comey released "A Higher Loyalty," which is highly critical of the president and sold more...
