The FBI is investigating after a suspicious letter was found at a church in Benton Monday morning (Feb. 19). The letter was found at Cypress Baptist Church on Palmetto Road in Benton and contained a white powder, the FBI says. Deputies with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office first responded to the scene. However, BPSO says Louisiana State Police has taken over the investigation. LSP says the investigation has now been turned over to the FBI. Capitol Police arrested a gunman outside office buildings near the US Senate on Tuesday. A woman suspected of trying to poison President Trump has reportedly been arrested. CNN reported Sunday evening, citing “a U.S. law enforcement official,” said that the unnamed woman was taken when she tried to cross from Canada into the U.S. A package containing the poison ricin was sent to Mr. Trump earlier this week but intercepted by law enforcement.
