Gov. Kay Ivey has extended Alabama’s coronavirus mask order requirement into the new year.The state’s current “Safer at Home” order has been extended until Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. The order requires masks to be work in public places when people are interacting within 6 feet of people from another household. Masks are also required in schools and colleges for grades second and above.“None of this is easy,” Ivey said. “I cannot think the people of Alabama enough for the sacrifices they are making.”

A Dallas Cowboys fan is suing the organization and owner Jerry Jones over burns she says she received because of their negligence. Jennelle Carrillo, of Cleburne, received severe burns to her backside after allegedly sitting on a bench outside Cowboys Stadium. “She sat down on this black bench, outside an entrance and unfortunately she suffered third-degree burns as a result of it and had subsequent skin grafts,” explained Carrillo’s lawyer, Michael Wash. HOUSTON -- A woman was bitten by a pit bull in southwest Houston on Thursday, officials told KPRC Local 2. Houston police said the woman bent down to face level with the dog at its home on Dairy Brook Drive near Brookwulf Drive at about 4 p.m. The woman was at a neighbor's home when the incident took place. The dog bit the woman on the lips and face, officials said. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials have not said what, if anything, will happen to the dog.
