Sylvester Stallone is know primarily for three things. Firstly, he’s known for “Rocky”, the rags-to-riches movie that made him an overnight sensation. Secondly, he’s known for “Judge Dredd”, and essentially ruining a classic comic book character. Thirdly, he’s known for the “Rambo” movies, a series about a Vietnam war veteran with severe PTSD, who tries and utterly fails to adapt to modern civilian life. Rambo Gun Source: Orion Pictures “First Blood”, the original film in the series, hit the cultural zeitgeist at just the right time. This was probably less to do with the movie’s biting political commentary, and more...

...Although [Sylvester Stallone has] been called a Republican, for supporting John McCain's 2008 presidential run, Stallone says he's not a member of the GOP. "May the best fighter win," he said. "I don't think you can be totally one-sided forever. Then you close your mind to all sorts of possibilities. It's just, 'Who comes along better at that time for what the planet is going through?' Right now, it's pretty confusing on every side." What does he think of the Republican frontrunner? "I love Donald Trump," he said. "He's a great Dickensian character. You know what I mean? There are...

... Stallone [was] nominated for Best Actor for playing "Rocky" in 1977. (Peter Finch won for "Network.") He has never been nominated since then. But his work is so good now as the boxing coach for Jordan's Adonis Creed, Stallone is very likely to sweep in and surprise everyone. (This would be bad news for the many other potential nominees from "Spotlight" and other films.) "Creed" is a total hit, a must see movie for Thanksgiving weekend. Coogler is 29 years old and this is second movie, after the wonderful "Fruitvale Station" Not only has be brought Jordan over from...

Origins: Like previous death hoaxes involving actors (including Jackie Chan), the Sylvester Stallone death hoax circulating on social media sites appears to stem from common culprit, a "fake news" generator. Several such sites exist, allowing Facebook and Twitter users to plug a celebrity's name into the generator and produce a "news story" reporting the star's recent death. While these death hoaxes appear on Facebook and Twitter with relative frequency, the most recent iteration of the Sylvester Stallone death hoax looks to be slightly different. Most links point back to a specific domain that appears to be a "clickjack"...

"I know people get (upset) and go, 'They're going to take away the assault weapon.' Who ... needs an assault weapon? Like really, unless you're carrying out an assault. ... You can't hunt with it. ... Who's going to attack your house, a (expletive) army?"

Yes, we fall for it every time…but why? It isn’t so much the violence although the idea of cruel and vicious people being paid back in their own coin generates a certain degree of schadenfreude. What is of greater significance is that it plays out the triumph of good v evil, a moral imperative that, despite our own flawed behaviour, appears to be a key driver in how we wish to be perceived.
