TMZ ^ | 07/14/2012

Posted on 07/14/2012 7:36:09 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Sage Stallone -- Sylvester Stallone's son -- has died and sources tell us the cause was an overdose of pills.

The details surrounding the death are still unclear .. but we're told he was found in his L.A. home by either a maid or his girlfriend. Paramedics were called to the home and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Sources tell us authorities are trying to determine if the death was intentional or accidental.

We're told Sylvester is a "wreck."

Sage famously made his film debut alongside his father in the 1990 movie "Rocky 5" -- playing the role of Rocky's son Robert Balboa.

He went on to act and direct in several films ... including the 1996 film "Daylight."

Sage's mother is Sasha Czack.

UPDATE 10:22 PM PT -- Law enforcement sources tell us ... Sage's death does NOT appear to be a suicide. We're told there was NO suicide note found at the scene.

Sources tell us officials DID find "numerous empty pill bottles" in the area where Sage's body was discovered. No word on what types of medication the pill bottles were for.

We're told an autopsy is scheduled for some time in the next 48 hours.

UPDATE 5:15 PM PT: Sylvester Stallone's rep, Michelle Bega, tells TMZ, "Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son Sage Stallone. His compassion and thoughts are with Sage's mother, Sasha. Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man. His loss will be felt forever."

6:04 PM PT: Now here's a crazy picture -- the L.A. County Coroner van, flanked by a celebrity tour filled with snap-happy tourists. Welcome to Hollywood, folks.

Street Drugs don’t generally come in ‘Pill Bottles’.

Somebody’s MD needs a talking to, immediately.

Actually, many times the dealer will peel off the label form the bottle and sell the whole bottle to one person.

Like I said, Crack and Ecstasy don’t generally come in ‘Pill Bottles’ whether this unfortunate young man was the victim of a street dealer or an MD.

FDA authorizes a whole lot of killer garbage that doesn’t belong in a living being, human Or animal, which should have the makers and peddlers behind bars.

That ‘Pill Bottles’ has my ears standing upright and the hairs on the back of my neck tingling.

Paging Dr Feelgood. Paging Dr Feelgood.

How very sad! I have a son near the same age. No matter how old they are, they are still your children. I always thought the beautiful baby in Rocky II was his son, but I think the movie came out a couple of years after Sage was born.

Just sad. I feel for any parent who loses their child and this is a tragedy.

I met Stallone years ago and he was a good guy with a sense of humor.

I pray for him, his family and son.

Terrible.

I have been to a number of “overdose” deaths over the years. Much of the time they come in waves after a batch of a substance that hasn’t been “cut” or diluted as much as normal hits the streets. If perscription meds are involved they usually are someone elses perscription or mixed with copius ammounts of alcohol or other perscription drugs.

Of couse the latest trend is young toughs abusing cough syrup combined with “Arizona iced tea” and Skittles. The lethality increases when they attack the police.

I agree, maybe Stallone will be the celeb that starts to clean up Hollywood. I know Carrol O’Conner was trying after the death of his son.

Why is there not a backlash of this culture that ruins so many young lives. You hear nothing.

I'm sure his parents got divorced to spare the children. It takes 18 years to raise a child - not 10. Just another self centered hollywood couple that care less about raising a child than their personal comfort.

Being the child of a big star is extremely difficult. They are pampered in many ways that leave them unfamiliar with the realities of the real world. At some point, they go through an identity crisis when they realize they can’t measure up to their famous parent and the rest of the world won’t take them seriously. So they often deal with depression and will, intentionally or unintentionally, kill themselves in their dark, desperate search to find significance outside the shadow of their famous parent. I’m sad for his family but Hollywood is littered with such stories.

You write as if an environment of waring parents, or where one has committed grave acts, is beneficial to a child's development just because mommy and daddy are "together" where as divorce can never be better.

Sounds like a fairytale view to me. You also don't know anything about their circumstances but paint them as "Just another self centered hollywood couple." That kind of pigeonholing is trite.

Conservatives are supposed to be about facts and individual character. You don't seem interested in either.

Yeah, pill addiction is Hell. It’s so easy to slip into, the action of taking the pill is so simple, it’s effortless. Do that a few times with the right stuff and bam you are physically addicted.

Sadly, I know this from experience. I feel for the dude and he’s dad, but he needed to be smarter.

I agree with you, the worse thing that can happen to a parent is to loose a child, especially lose one to drugs/suicide

Only scumbags would take pictures of a coroner’s van transporting someone’s body.

I believe it was ‘TMZ’ that stated Sage Stallone could have been dead from 3 days to a week.

Why would they bring in the paramedics? He’d be decomposing!

I know that sounds grotesque but it’s true.
