“I believe in a non-binary god, whose pronouns are plural,” Pastor Anna Helgen said. “I believe in Jesus Christ, their child, who wore a fabulous tunic and had two dads.” THE SPARKLE CREED Rev. Rachel Small Stokes I believe in the non-binary God whose pronouns are plural. I believe in Jesus Christ, their child, who wore a fabulous tunic and had two dads, and who saw everyone as a sibling child of God. I believe in the rainbow Spirit, who shatters our image of one white light and refracts it into a rainbow of gorgeous diversity. I believe in the...

A lady walks into Tiffany's. She looks around, spots a beautiful Diamond bracelet and walks over to inspect it. As she bends over to more closely inspect it, she farts. Very embarrassed she looks around nervously to see if anyone noticed her little whoops and prays that a salesperson was not anywhere near. As she turns around her worst nightmare materializes in the form of a salesman standing right behind her. Good looking as well as "cool as a cucumber" he displays all of what you would expect of a professional in a store like Tiffany's. He politely greets the...

To be clear, I have zero interest in the Markle Sparkle. But a combination of creaky bones and allergies that have packed my sinus cavities with concrete got me up extra-early so I switched on the TV and between a choice of mass school shooting coverage and wringing of hands and a royal wedding I’ll take the royals. A royal wedding outside of Hollywood is a strange affair in the 21st century. Sort of an anachronism within an anachronism.  My only comment is that there hasn’t been so many people of colour at a British royal wedding since, well, ever....

The stars came out in Oak Bluffs Monday evening for a private screening of the movie Sparkle, set to open across the United States on Friday. Almost 200 invited guests filed into the threadbare Island Theater, leased just for the occasion. The atmosphere was a mix of Hollywood premiere, Obama fundraiser, and Oak Bluffs summer fun. There were hugs all around for Attorney General Eric Holder, Obama senior advisor and seasonal Island resident Valerie Jarrett, Harvard professor Henry Louis "Skip" Gates, actor Chris Tucker, producer Debra Martin Chase, CBS morning show host Gayle King and Sony Corporation chief executive officer...

First Lady's Inaugural Wardrobe SparklesBush Twins Go Hollywood In Badgley Mischka Gowns. The inaugural gown that first lady Laura Bush will wear next week is an ice blue and silver embroidered tulle V-neck dress with a matching duchess satin coat by Seventh Avenue designer Oscar de la Renta. The gown is youthful and feminine, not sexy -- the epitome of good taste. But it is almost overshadowed by the glamorous day suit that de la Renta created for the swearing-in ceremony. The Inauguration Day ensemble consists of a winter white cashmere dress with embroidered trim that is topped with...
