  • Whistleblowers Key to Fighting Russian Sanction Evasion

    04/30/2022 5:05:45 AM PDT · by Kaslin · 4 replies
    Townhall.com ^ | April 30, 2022 | Jeb White,
As Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine rages on, and Western nations continue to place sanctions on Putin’s government, Russian oligarchs, and the country’s economy, whistleblowers will play a critical role in exposing attempts by Russia to retaliate against the United States and evade sanctions by infiltrating our national cybersecurity. For many, what comes to mind when they hear the word “whistleblower” is someone, usually an employee, who identifies wrongdoing or mismanagement occurring, and shines a light on it. This is done to expose and put an end to abuse, fraud, and waste. And while this understanding would be correct,...
  • NYC teachers encouraged to ‘document’ COVID violations with photos

The labor union that represents most of New York City‘s public school teachers is allowing educators to “document issues” regarding the city’s quarantine mandate by uploading photos of violators. The United Federation of Teachers (UFT), tweeted Sunday: “If you encounter issues in your classroom related to the mayor’s new quarantine guidelines for students, including cases where students are not able to maintain 3 feet of distance, please use this form to document them.” UFT then linked to an online form where teachers can report quarantine rule violations by uploading information that can include up to five photos. The form also...
  • I Now Better Understand the 'Good German'

As my listeners and readers can hopefully attest, I have been on a lifelong quest to understand human nature and human behavior. I am sad to report that I have learned more in the last few years, particularly in 2020, than in any equivalent period of time. One of the biggest revelations concerns a question that has always plagued me: How does one explain the "good German," the term used to describe the average, presumably decent German, who did nothing to hurt Jews but also did nothing to help them and did nothing to undermine the Nazi regime? The same...

Like the oppressive Soviet regimes of the Cold War and their secret snitching, Oregon governor Kate Brown is encouraging citizens to call the police on people who not adhering to her arbitrary COVID decrees. If you have more than six people at your home, or people from more than two households over for Thanksgiving, you are in violation of Her Majesty’s edicts, and your neighbors are to rat you out. Leonid Brezhnev would be applauding Governor Brown!

Britons have already starting snitching on each other over perceived breaches of the coronavirus ‘rule of six’, with one woman grassing on people at a wake in a pub garden. Ministers this week had urged members of the public to inform on their neighbours if they were suspected of gathering in groups of larger than six. Home Secretary Priti Patel even said that two families bumping into each other in the street and stopping for a chat could be against the law.

Though requirements vary from state to state, many of them are hiring thousands of contact tracers in an effort to curb coronavirus spread. Here’s a brief quiz to check your knowledge. States across the country are scrambling to hire tens of thousands of contact tracers, who will play a key role in keeping the coronavirus contained. Many experts I interviewed said that a high school diploma should be sufficient for a basic contact tracing job, though teams should be led by an experienced public health worker. Indeed, this could be an opportunity for the U.S. to provide employment for thousands...

What do you do if your neighbor has 15-20 people over and it’s in violation of stay-at-home orders? A JustTheNews.com survey found that 36% of voters would report their neighbors to the police. Forty-three percent (43%) would not. Suburban and Urban voters are evenly divided on the question. However, by a 53% to 28% margin, rural voters would not report their neighbors. There is a huge partisan difference. By a 44% to 31% margin, a plurality of Democrats would turn their neighbors in. By a 60% to 25% margin, Republicans would not. Independents are evenly divided.

Democrats are far more likely than Republicans to say they'd report neighbors for holding a social gathering in violation of coronavirus stay-at-home orders, according to a new Just the News Daily Poll with Scott Rasmussen. "There is a huge partisan difference," Rasmussen said. "By a 44% to 31% margin, a plurality of Democrats would turn in their neighbors. By a 60% to 25% margin, Republicans would not. Independents are evenly divided. Other data I’ve released shows that a plurality of Republicans now believe the worst of the pandemic is behind us. Democrats strongly disagree."

Harris County Texas CEO, County Judge Lina Hidalgo, embraces authoritarianism like a duck takes to water. That is the takeaway many Houstonians and residents of Harris County have of her behavior during the coronavirus pandemic. Her far-left liberal credentials became apparent from the beginning after she won the election in 2018. This morning the latest example of the judge’s overreach was posted on Twitter. She asks people to go ahead and turn in on any business that isn’t following Governor Abbott’s guidance on operating during the pandemic. “Help us save lives.” See a restaurant at full capacity? Businesses open...

"How do I report a non-essential business that's still open?" Mayor Eric Garcetti asks. But the real question is what sort of people want an answer to that question? As a baby boomer, I grew up watching a lot of war movies. In my childhood, World War Two was still fresh in the minds of most. A common theme in those films were stories of Nazi-occupied countries. I can recall one in particular about a peaceful Norwegian village occupied by brutal German forces. Most of the Norwegians chafed under the Nazis and their tyrannical rule, but there was always this one guy in the village who thought it was better for everyone to do what they were told and serve the evil occupiers, for their own good, of course....

NBC has issued strict new anti-sexual harassment rules to employees — including that staffers must snitch on any misbehaving colleagues — in the wake of the firing of disgraced “Today” show host Matt Lauer. A source tells Page Six that NBC employees have been ordered to report any inappropriate relationships in the workplace — and if they fail to do so, they could be fired for covering up for colleagues. Detailed rules also have been issued about conduct in the office, including how to socialize and even how to hug colleagues. A source says, “Romantic relationships at work are not...

The FBI have launched a new program forcing high schools across America to report students that display “anti-government” or rebellious behavior to authorities. The program is an attempt to prevent future terrorists from manifesting, in the governments ongoing “war on terror”. The FBI are urging school teachers to report any “suspicious behavior” to authorities in their new guidelines entitled “Preventing Violent Extremism in Schools“. They discovered two Tampa police officers, David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab, lying together on the ground. The officers had been shot. A new federal rewards program dishes out cash to people who turn in friends, relatives and employers for fudging their tax returns. For 24 years Vincent A. Spondello toiled away as an accountant for a group of related companies known as Monex, a large Newport Beach, Calif. precious metals dealer. A trusted employee, he prepared tax returns and was given such tasks as overseeing the destruction of old corporate documents. It turns out that some records that were supposedly destroyed he took home instead. In May Spondello sent 25 boxes of original Monex papers to the Internal Revenue Service--documents that...

Quote: Reporting from Washington - As Barack Obama builds his administration and prepares to take office next week, his political team is quietly planning for a nationwide hiring binge that would marshal an army of full-time organizers to press the new president's agenda and lay the foundation for his reelection. The organization, known internally as "Barack Obama 2.0," is being designed to sustain a grass-roots network of millions that was mobilized last year to elect Obama and now is widely considered the country's most potent political machine. Organizers and even Republicans say the scope of this permanent campaign structure is...

Armed robbers terrorized Oakland restaurants and small businesses in three separate crime sprees over the past year. The first wave targeted Asian eateries and struck during the 2007 holiday season. The second arrived last spring and was more indiscriminate. The third struck in July and August. All three made newspaper headlines and led television newscasts, shining a spotlight on the city's out-of-control crime problem and the Oakland Police Department's apparent inability to cope with it. In fact, the department's public response to the takeover robberies was both odd and illuminating. The department's mantra for dealing with the city's crime spike...
