40 Percent of All US Childbirths Occur to Single Mothers, 700 Percent Higher than in 1960 A recent report from the Social Capital Project reveals that the American family is disintegrating, fast. Fully 40 percent of mothers are currently unmarried. This is bad news, because good families depend on good marriages. Marriage is the moral glue that binds them. It’s the stabilizing agent. There’s a reason that children from married couples do better in school, and are less likely to end up in jail as compared to children of unmarried mothers, known as “fragile families.” Lavar Young, civil rights activist,...

Critics of this column will quickly point out the sheer amount of destruction caused by Stephen Paddock would not have been possible had Paddock not had access to the cadre of high-powered, fast-shooting weaponry he did. They are undeniably correct. Some terrorism is beyond the scope of individual defense. But is this a reason to trash the Second Amendment? Of course not. Progressives have never, ever answered one simple question when it comes to the notion of gun control or gun bans, to wit: How do you keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and madmen? Whatever sick motivation...

Children raised in single-parent households in the U.S. are far more likely to live in poverty than children with both parents present, according to Census figures released Monday. As a result, far more black and Hispanic children are raised in poverty than white kids. Bloomberg News Among all children living only with their mother, nearly half — or 45% — live below the poverty line, the Census Bureau said. For those living with just the father, about 21% lived in poverty. By comparison, only about 13% of children with both parents present in the household live below the poverty line....

The New York Times recently ran a seemingly endless and positively glowing story in its Sunday Magazine celebrating single-motherhood. The title — “2 Kids + 0 Husbands = Family” — says it all. The Times considers husbands and fathers incidental and altogether disposable. In reality, families with “0 husbands” equals social strychnine. In her new book, "Guilty: Liberal ‘Victims’ And Their Assault On America," Ann Coulter offers a grim assessment of the consequences of women having children solo. Coulter discloses, “70% of teenage births, dropouts, suicides, runaways, juvenile delinquents and child murderers involve children raised by single mothers.”

Last night I posted an item on David Shuster's hypocrisy in branding Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston "unwed parents," pointing out that the MSM would never normally use such an un-PC term, preferring to speak reverentially of "single mothers." This morning, Ann Coulter appeared on Today to discuss her new book, Guilty, and by coincidence, an important focus of Ann's remarks was . . . the liberal media's "exaltation of single-motherhood." I'll leave it to my fellow NewsBusters to recount the entire story of Ann's Today appearance, including the way NBC apparently scurried to have her on this morning's show...

I debated the issue of Single Motherhood by Choice on Fox's nationally-syndicated Morning Show with Mike and Juliet yesterday. Also on the show were two single mothers by choice, including Louise Sloan, author of the new book Knocking Yourself Up, a psychologist, and 18-year-old Katrina Clark, a child of a single mother by choice. As you can imagine, I was badly outnumbered, and was the only one representing the fathers' side, which is always fun. They extended our topic over three segments, so it's lengthy as far as TV goes--to watch the video of the show, click here. www.GlennSacks.com, Glenn...

Michael Jackson is furious after learning bosses at MTV plan to continue airing Eminem's controversial video for his single Just Lose It. The 46-year-old Bad singer urged all TV networks to ban the clip, which features Eminem dressed as Jackson, jumping around on a bed with young children. His also nose then falls off and his hair bursts into flames - which spoofs the Thriller star's accident on the set of a Pepsi commercial in 1984. And while Black Entertainment Television (BET) has banned the video, MTV has decided to allow its broadcast, angering Jackson. His spokesperson Raymone Bain...

America's morning TV sweetheart, Katie Couric, wasted no time on Wednesday trying to turn the beheading of Americans in Iraq into political ammunition - asking the brother of executed hostage Jack Hensley if he still supported the war.

Should a physician be able to refuse treatment because of his or her religious beliefs? Does a patient have the right to demand that a medical provider cover a procedure that may be morally repugnant to the doctors performing the surgery? These are the questions that are being raised in a controversial court case which pits lesbian Guadolupe Benitez, who demands to be artificially inseminated, against Dr. Christine Brody, who refuses to perform the procedure. The controversy began in 1999, reports CNS News.com, when Ms. Benitez sought to be artificially inseminated and was sent by her health care provider to...
