A former lieutenant and so-called “right-hand man” of cult leader Charles Manson, who had a role in several brutal murders, has reportedly died. Bruce Davis died on Sept. 11 at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, where he was serving a life sentence for his horrific crimes, according to TMZ.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – After 43 years in prison, parole officials again say it is safe to free Charles Manson follower Bruce Davis. Parole commissioners recommended Thursday that Davis be paroled in the 1969 slayings of musician Gary Hinman and stuntman Donald "Shorty" Shea. It's the fourth time for such a recommendation, but the 72-year-old Davis remains imprisoned at California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo.

"Manson apparently refused to go back to his cell and assumed a fighting stance with a correctional officer, said Todd Slosek, a spokesman for the California Department of Corrections. Slosek didn't have exact details on when the incident occurred, other than to say it happened sometime this week. He said he didn't believe either Manson or the officer was injured in the confrontation. "
