MADISON — Senate Democrats voted Wednesday to retain a $1 billion-a-year revenue-sharing program for counties, cities and other local governments that was earlier proposed for cuts.

“Today we just renewed our partnership with local governments and their need to provide services to grow Wisconsin,” said Sen. Dave Hansen, D-Green Bay. “We have to continue shared revenue in the future, and we have to reward communities for doing things well.”
