“Of all the passions, the passion for the Inner Ring is most skillful in making a man who is not yet a very bad man do very bad things.” -CS Lewis Like all demons, he was obsessed with children. Shedding their blood was preferable. Failing that, he could always cut them up, scalp them, sexualize them, incite them to a sexual frenzy, or castrate them. The possibilities were endless, and exciting. Demonic appetite never ceases, and Mephistopheles was hungry. To satisfy his lust, he would need a megalomaniac with a Promethean drive; someone appointed in high places and thus able...

Swift has had a direct impact on cutting scalpers out of ticket sales, driving more money to artists. Fans waiting to buy tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras tour next week should expect two things: high demand and high prices. After all, it’s been five years and four albums since Swift toured, with her newest album, Midnights, on track to be the best-selling record of the year — earning Swift the title of first artist to ever have 10 songs dominate the top 10 of the Hot 100 chart. That popularity means that Swift can set high prices for her tickets...

In chilling testimony last week, an abortion whistleblower involved in revealing how Planned Parenthood affiliates had sold aborted baby body parts revealed one of the horrifying research purposes of body parts buyers: they were "scalping the babies." In 2015, David Daleiden shocked America's conscience by releasing a slew of videos showing abortionists at Planned Parenthood affiliates admitting that they sold the body parts of aborted babies, often to medical research establishments. Planned Parenthood and its allies have dragged Daleiden and his organization, the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), through the courts. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (following the lead of...

Here’s a map of where the ticket is and its not even in the upper deck! The lucky fan might even be able to snag a foul ball from the seat. The...

Indian tribes seek federal bailout money for casinos A native-American tribe struggling to keep its Foxwoods Resort Casino in the red is now turning to the U.S. government for a helping hand. The Associated Press reports that the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has already received more than $4.5 million in grants from the Department of Health and Human Services and from the Interior Department in the last five years. But now members are facing tough times with its casino — which used to be a billion-dollar empire — and are looking at the government for more grants, AP says. Critics...

Dozens of people among the throngs of jubilant fans hold crudely made cardboard signs featuring the words "I Need Tickets." Strangely, these people who, to an outsider, appear to be in desperate need of tickets for the big game, hold numerous tickets high above their head so everyone can see. These people are the noble ticket scalpers. They are a people scorned by athletic organizations, lawmakers, and many fans. What are they doing to merit such ill will and legal persecution? Are they truly unscrupulous, greedy parasites who dupe fans and injure the athletic organizations? The United States does not...

Less than a minute after tickets for last August's Neil Diamond concerts at New York's Madison Square Garden went on sale, more than 100 seats were available for hundreds of dollars more than their normal face value on premium-ticket site TicketExchange.com. The seller? Neil Diamond. Ticket reselling -- also known as scalping -- is an estimated $3 billion-a-year business in which professional brokers buy seats with the hope of flipping them to the public at a hefty markup. ...the source of the higher-priced tickets was the singer, working with Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc., which owns TicketExchange, and concert promoter AEG Live....

Senate votes to ban inauguration ticket scalping34 mins ago WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate has passed a bill outlawing the sale of tickets to President-elect Barack Obama's swearing-in ceremony, which are being handed out for free, threatening offenders with a $100,000 fine and a year in jail. **SNIP** "The presidential inauguration is one of the most important rituals of our democracy. The chance to witness it should not be bought and sold like tickets to a sporting event," Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a California Democrat who sponsored the legislation, said in a statement on Wednesday. The legislation, passed by the...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Top box office service Ticketmaster said on Tuesday that it would buy TicketsNow Inc, a Web site that resells tickets to concerts and sports events, in a bid for a stronger foothold in the secondary tickets market. Ticketmaster, a unit of IAC/InterActiveCorp that will be spun off into an independent company later this year, expects the deal to close by the end of the first quarter. Ticketmaster said it planned to build a site allowing customers to review and compare ticket pricing in the primary, premium and resale markets. Financial terms were not disclosed, but a...

There are people paying $250 this week for Hannah Montana concert tickets with a face value of 25 bucks. For those of you not blessed with 13-year-old daughters who watch the Disney Channel, Hannah Montana is a fictional pop star played by the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus - also known as the Achy-Breaky Heart guy. Anyone who’d pay 10 times face value for tickets to watch a cable TV actress sing bad pop music for pre-teens is a dope who shouldn’t have access to a checkbook without adult supervision. On the other hand, there are people prepared to pay...

But what I really don't understand about the scalping brouhaha is why anyone thinks the government should be involved in deciding how much a willing buyer can pay a willing seller for tickets to a lawful entertainment event. We all take it for granted that if you're willing to pay for the privilege, you can stay at the best hotel, live in the best neighborhood, eat at the best restaurant, or hire the best lawyer. So what accounts for the heavy breathing when some fans pay a premium in order to see Daisuke Matsuzaka take the mound or watch David...

My family lives on the North side of Indianapolis up by Fishers. Just down the road is Verizon Wireless concert arena. When we drive by on days of concerts, there are many people sitting in chairs off to the side of the road with signs stating "Need tix" while holding tickets in their hands, presumably for sale. What am I missing here (besides the Brad Paisely concert tonight)?

Bono incensed as Hillary plays politics at U2 gig By Philip Sherwell in Washington (Filed: 16/10/2005) The Irish rock star, Bono, has been angered by Senator Hillary Clinton's use of a U2 concert this week to raise funds for her political campaign coffers - even though he is a good friend of her husband, Bill. "U2 concerts are categorically not fund-raisers for any politician. They are rock concerts for U2 fans," said his close associate, Jamie Drummond, who runs Data, the Third World advocacy group set up by Bono with Sir Bob Geldof. The Mike Tice ticket-scalping case took another strange turn Thursday with an Internet report that the Vikings' head coach had admitted to selling for profit part of his personal allotment of 12 tickets to last month's Super Bowl. Reached by the Pioneer Press, Tice said that, on the advice of his attorney, he had no comment. According to the report on the Sports Illustrated Web site, Tice sold some of his tickets for $1,900 apiece, a profit of at least $1,300 on each one sold. Tice made $750,000 in salary last season and is scheduled to make $1 million next...

Minnesota head coach Mike Tice is being investigated by the NFL for allegedly heading up and profiting from a Super Bowl ticket-scalping operation within the Vikings organization, a violation of NFL rules that league sources say has been going on for years. Two investigators from the league's security staff, Larry Sweeney and John Keenan, were in the Twin Cities on Tuesday, questioning Tice in his office and speaking with Vikings running backs coach Dean Dalton, as well as other club personnel. The pair left the team complex in the afternoon to meet with the team's director of ticket sales, Phil...

BOISE, Idaho — A 16-year-old girl was allegedly tied up and scalped with a 4-inch knife in what police say may have been an act of revenge by another woman. The girl, who had a punk-style mohawk haircut before the attack, is recovering at home. Doctors could not reattach her scalp, which was found near a hot spring. Police searched for Marianne Dahle, 26, who disappeared after the Jan. 18 attack at Kirkham Hot Springs, about 70 miles from Boise.
