Chester, NJ—A recent clinical trial published in Phytotherapy Research indicated that a high-absorption curcumin (BCM-95 from Dolcas Biotech, based here) had similar effects as a generic form of Prozac (fluoxetine) on depression, sans the adverse effects. “It is a novel and surprising application for this natural medicine,†said Ajay Goel, Ph.D., Baylor Research Institute and Charles A Sammons Cancer Center, Baylor University Medical Center and study co-author. “People with depression have higher levels of inflammation in the brain. Also, people with depression have lower levels of neurogenesis in the brain, meaning they make fewer new brain cells than people with no...

There is a certain tiresome message we’ve all heard: the notion that the Republican and Democratic parties are the same. It’s often put forth by people who consider themselves outside-the-box thinkers, and they fancy their point of view the enlightened one. Sometimes cynical George Carlin types, their message is, “Hey, I’m smart enough to know both parties are playin’ the game. Don’t try to fool me!” This attitude was apparent in a few of the comments under a recent piece I wrote about liberal immorality. One respondent opined, for instance, “What still amazes [me] is that there has been definite...

Obama was speaking to a Union audiance today and stated he'd give them a taste of his Jobs speech. If you have seen this, answer me a question. Is he seriously going to announce that there are plenty of bridges and roads that need fixing? Does he think we don't know that THOSE type of jobs are paid for with the working population's money? I.E., taxes? Mr. President the federal government along with the majority of state governments are B-R-O-K-E!

It gets crazier with each passing day. Today we learned that Obama has proclaimed NASA’s new foremost task is to reach out to the Muslim world and make the Muslim people feel good about their historic contribution to science. As far as actual space flight goes, it seems NASA won’t go into space anymore beyond low Earth orbit, although it may form partnerships with other nations for this purpose.

“A marriage elsewhere is a marriage in the District,” said Ward 1 Councilman Jim Graham, who joins Councilman David Catania as the two openly gay council members. “This is a very important step forward.”

I've had a few people wanting to see the video I did on gay marriage that was banned from YouTube. I put up a new video on my website. Hope you'll watch, and keep up the fight to keep marriage between one man, and one woman. God bless ya!

OBAMA/BIDEN: SAME OLD CHANGE I awoke Saturday to find Delaware Senator Joe Biden on the ticket. As I slurped my first cup of coffee and rubbed my sleepy eyes, the enormity of this began to sink in: The Agent for Change We Can Believe In just changed his motto to: "Same Old Change". I will not hide who I am in order to paint false pathos, to pretend (like Claude Rains in "Casablanca") that I am "shocked, shocked to find gambling go on" at Ricks Place, and feign that Senator Obama's choice for the person to be a heartbeat from...

he US and Mexico are hoping to put recent strains in their relations behind them, and concentrate on common objectives, in talks between President Ronald Reagan and Mr Miguel de la Madrid, the Mexican President, at the White House today. US officials say that the meeting, the fifth between the two presidents, will focus on Mexico's economic problems and the war against drugs, demoting Mr Reagan's contentious policy towards Central America to at most a side issue. In preparation for the visit, the Reagan Administration has been making a concerted effort to be nicer to Mexico after a period of...

“NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams told The Hill that he wrote Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Rep. Harold Ford Jr. (D-Tenn.) letters of apology last week after he confused the two men at the State of the Union address. During NBC’s broadcast, Williams noticed Obama on the House floor and identified him to the viewing audience. Unfortunately, it was actually Ford. “I made a silly and honest mistake, and knowing both men I knew instantly what I had done,” a contrite and gracious Williams said in a phone call. “I obviously should have corrected it, but the proper time...

Colleagues describe Murdock, who ruled on same-sex marriage, as even-handed Margaret Brooke Murdock was once president of the Women's Law Center in Towson, an organization that promotes "equal rights for women and children," according to its mission statement. Now she is a Baltimore Circuit Court judge, and a ruling last week has thrust her into another equal rights issue - this one a particularly contentious battle playing out at a national level. Murdock sided with nine gay couples and one man in ruling that Maryland's three-decades-old law defining marriage as being between a man and a woman violates the state's...

WATERLOO — The state Commission of Investigation will be asked to look into allegations of inappropriate activities by Democrats prior to the Nov. 8 general election. The Seneca County Board of Supervisors’ Government Operations & Technology Committee voted 4-1 Tuesday to consider four specific points Committee Chairman David Kaiser of Romulus brought up Nov. 7, when the measure was tabled because it was the night before the election and two of the committee’s members were facing a challenge. Kaiser, a Republican, alleges county property may have been illegally used for political purposes. He specifically cites the listing of Democratic Elections...

CAMP AL QA’IM, Iraq (Sept. 20, 2005) -- Some people say the Marine Corps is a small community in a small world. Three Clearwater, Fla., natives who live less than five minutes from each other are proof of that theory. Sergeant Chris Whitman, 23, Cpl. Matt Orth, 22, and Lance Cpl. Benjamin Hallstrom, 22, are all deployed here with the same unit, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment. The three Marines are all graduates of Clearwater High School; Whitman in 2000, Hallstrom in 2001 and Orth in 2002. Whitman and Orth were in Junior Marine Corps Reserve Officer Training Corps together...

oronto-- On the same day Canada’s historic same-sex marriage bill passed through the House of Commons, thousands of emails were pouring into Allstate Insurance Company over conservative columnist J. Matt Barber. Allstate may have unwittingly spawned an anti-same-sex-marriage martyr in the spunky J. Matt Barber. Barber, a former employee of the insurance giant was fired--allegedly terminated, all for writing a column posted on several websites that was critical of same sex marriage and espousing his signature Christian beliefs. As WorldNetDaily first reported, J. Matt Barber was a manager in Allstate’s Corporate Security Division, its investigative arm, at the Fortune 100...

Asked if Muslims worship the same Almighty as Jews and Christians, President Bush replied some months ago, "I believe we worship the same God." The Islamic deity, known as Allah, in other words, is the same Supreme Being to whom Jews and Christians pray. The president's statement provoked widespread dismay among Evangelicals; one poll found 79% of their leadership disagreeing with this view. Pat Robertson pungently explained why, observing "the entire world is being convulsed by a religious struggle. … whether Hubal, the Moon God of Mecca, known as Allah, is supreme, or whether the Judeo-Christian Jehovah, God of the Bible,...

On this day last year, hundreds of Minnesotans came to the state Capitol to witness the first hearing on a constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriage. Proponents said the need was immediate — that activist judges across the country would be taking the meaning of marriage into their own hands and allowing same-sex couples to wed. Opponents were just as adamant — a constitutional amendment would enshrine discrimination and divide the state. The issue returned to Minnesota on Tuesday as Sen. Michele Bachmann, R-Stillwater, and supporters announced a renewed effort to ask voters to approve a constitutional amendment to...

Muslims and Christians: Not the Same JesusMark Roberts Imagine for a moment a person who believes George Armstrong Custer won the Battle of Little Bighorn. Somehow this person has come to believe all kinds of wrong information about Custer. He says Custer fought for the Confederacy, had red hair, and defeated Crazy Horse at Little Bighorn. Despite all these factual gaps he then announces “I believe in Custer.” What do we make of this?It would be true that this individual shares some things in common with those who believe in the real George Custer. However, this person does not...

Dr. Charles McVety, President of Canada Family Action Coalition, says "People of faith and good will across Canada are deeply disappointed and saddened that Prime Minister Paul Martin has breached their trust by once again breaking his word". Mr. Martin has broken his election promise to allow a free vote re-defining marriage and is now threatening Canadians with an expensive frivolous election and accosting Members of Parliament with loss of their position and the rigors of a campaign to regain their job. In addition Mr. Martin is threatening to fire Cabinet Ministers. He also seems to have plans to withdraw...
