The Bush camp clearly despises Donald Trump. In his remarks at Shanksville, Pennsylvania on the 20th anniversary of 9/11, George W. Bush took thinly-veiled shots at Trump, alluding to him and his supporters as a "malign force." But there was nothing veiled about the shots that former George W. Former President Trump is urging Republicans not to vote in upcoming elections unless the “fraud” of the 2020 elections is uncovered. “If we don’t solve the Presidential Election Fraud of 2020 (which we have thoroughly and conclusively documented), Republicans will not be voting in ’22 and ’24,” Trump said in a statement released Wednesday. “It is the single most important thing for Republicans to do.” Trump’s claims of a “rigged” election also depressed voter turnout during the Georgia Senate runoff elections on January 5. Matthew Dowd, the former chief strategist of President George W. Bush’s 2004 reelection bid, is running as a Democrat for Texas lieutenant governor, kicking off a difficult fight to oust incumbent Dan Patrick. In a video announcing his campaign, Dowd railed against Patrick as a representative of only a small minority of Texans. He blamed Patrick for hampering local governments’ ability to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and failing to take charge after the state’s electric grid crashed earlier this year. “The GOP politicians have failed us, especially the cruel and craven lieutenant governor,” Dowd said.
