So Cochran loses the Republican vote substantially, but wins with a Democrat turn-out effort. He won't be punished as Childers will lose to him in November. He will resign in mid-office and a younger "party man" like Reeves or Pickering will be selected to take his place. The Barbour clan (except for Jeppie) have permanent stain on their names, but plenty of cash, so who cares? The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) needs to hear from the voter base and see the results in their fund raising. Next time you get a fund raising letter from them, Mark your return...

Appearing today at a fundraiser in Kirkwood, Missouri for Senate candidate Todd Akin, former Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich offered the support and encouragement that few others in his party have dared give. Abandoned by the GOP after his infamous “legitimate rape” comments, and crucified by the liberal and conservative media alike, Akin vowed to remain in the Senate race for the “long haul” and emerge victorious. After sharing his toxic views on women’s health, Akin’s conservative donors and supporters pulled out in droves, denouncing the candidate’s statements. This despite the fact that in 2011 Akin had co-authored a bill...

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist's decision to run for the Senate is putting the Republican Party's anti-stimulus stand to the test, with Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele backing away from a threat to punish candidates who supported President Obama's signature economic recovery program. For some Republicans heading into the 2010 elections, opposition to the giant $787 billion spending bill that Mr. Obama signed in February was seen as a litmus test for success, analogous to the opposition to President Clinton's 1993 tax increases that helped fuel a Republican congressional takeover a year later. The February stimulus vote "was a...
  • RNSC Claims No Calls Regarding Snow, Collins, and Specter Campaign Funding

I have just been in phone contact with both the RNC and the RNSC (National Republican Senatorial Committee) regarding campaign funding for Collins, Snowe, and Specter. The RNC directed me to the RNSC regarding matters pertaining to the distribution of funds to the various senators. I suggested that the RNSC communicate to the senators today the ultimatum that if they voted for this Porkulus bill, they would not get any campaign funds next election. The RNSC spokesperson said she would pass my concerns on to John Cornyn (Chairman of the RNSC), but not necessarily today. I expressed my dissatisfaction with...
