    PROVIDENCE — California is not the only state to oppose same-sex marriage. According to a new USA Today/ Gallup poll, the majority of Americans continue to oppose gay marriage. Gallup found 57 percent of Americans oppose legalizing same-sex marriage. On May 26, the California Supreme Court ruled that gay marriage will remain banned in the state of California, upholding Proposition 8, which declares that “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."
