The online job search company Indeed is offering transgender employees and their families who want to relocate for access to sex-change procedures and drugs $10,000 to cover expenses. The company confirmed its policy to Axios on August 30, adding that its “gender-affirming care” relocation benefit was announced to employees and went into effect in July 2023. The policy applies to U.S. employees and immediate family members seeking sex-mutilating surgeries, cross-sex hormones, and puberty blockers but who live in states with laws that criminalize or restrict such procedures. The policy also applies to those who live in places that protect children...

In one year, over 530 police officers have relocated to Florida from 48 states and U.S. territories to take advantage of Florida’s Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Program. On April 1 last year, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed HB 3 into law, which included a wide range of law enforcement initiatives, including incentives to encourage both out-of-state residents and Floridians to join state and local law enforcement agencies. The recruitment program includes signing bonuses for every recruit, costs covered for training programs and relocation expenses, pay raises and $1,000 bonuses. It also created a Law Enforcement Academy Scholarship Program for children of...

It also...

The Departure Many thoughtful Christian residents of our blue states have toyed with the idea of relocating for years now. But, as Newton taught us, an object at rest tends to remain at rest. There were real annoyances associated with staying put, but that is what they were thought to be — annoyances. The taxes were high, the governments were incompetent and officious, regulations were increasingly intrusive, and so on. And so the thought of maybe someday was constantly in the back of a lot of minds. And then 2020 hit us amidships, and this brought with it a dark...

Once again, Democrats are proving that in order to be a member of the Donkey Party you have to have been born without the hypocrisy gene. On Friday, the Washington Post, not much for journalistic ethics and integrity these days, ran with a story lamenting a Trump administration proposal to ‘relocate’ — as in, dump — masses of illegal aliens in cities where political rivals live. The Post noted: White House officials have tried to pressure U.S. immigration authorities to release detainees onto the streets of “sanctuary cities” to retaliate against President Trump’s political adversaries, according to Department of Homeland...

Steps are reportedly being taken to relocate the U.S. embassy to the Holy See onto the grounds of the American embassy to Italy. <-- Advertising --> Although no official decision has been announced, the move appears likely and is being justified on grounds of enhanced security.Previous American ambassadors to the Holy See contacted by the National Catholic Reporter have said they are opposed to the plans.Ambassador James Nicholson, who served as ambassador during the presidency of George W. Bush, said the proposed relocation would be a “massive downgrade” that would turn the embassy into “a stepchild of the embassy to...

Anyone know anything about retiring in Costa Rica?
-
Just curious especially to hear from anyone else who’s planning to do this, about the best countries overseas to retire and work in. My wife and I have done pretty well with our import/export business, worked hard and saved up, and are starting to make retirement plans. We’re not much enthused about giving out our hard-earned and saved money, to support the spendthrift socialist incompetence and excesses of Obama and his successors. So we’re looking to retire abroad, and if possible to even continue some of the business overseas in a lower key, part time context. Our trading is mostly...

Now that the election has been completed, I know that I need to relocate. I am recently retired and I will sell my townhouse and move from Northern VA. But I haven’t yet narrowed the field of possible locations very much. GF and I have been entertaining the idea of purchasing a piece of rural property and constructing our own house. But we really want to be among conservative-minded folks. We have been actively reading this site for a long time and always appreciate the opinions of those involved. I would like to have as many opinions and suggestions about...

A growing number of Americans is thinking about turning expat, according to a survey by America Wave and Zogby International. The share of Americans planning to relocate increased to 2.5 percent from 0.8 percent in 2009. If this number describes the entire population, that means around 6 million Americans are planning on leaving the country. America Wave's Bob Adams (a Business Insider contributor) found that single people, political conservatives and men were more likely to be in this group.

The United States and Japan agreed yesterday to relocate a controversial U.S. air base to a less densely populated area on the Japanese island of Okinawa. The future of Marine Corps Air Station Futenma had been a subject of intense political debate in Japan that led to the possibility of the base being moved off the island entirely, despite a 2006 agreement to relocate it on Okinawa. Talks between Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates for the United States and Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada and Defense Minister Toshimi Kitazawa for Japan addressed a range...

Outside Magazine just ranking Colorado Springs as the best place to live. http://outside.away.com/outside/destinations/200908/best-towns-america-colorado-springs.html Outside Magazine lists as a drawback that it might be get this TOO CONSERVATIVE for some people. As you know, Money Magazine consistently usually ranks it number 1 as well. http://www.ownyourownmountain.com/artman/publish/Gazette_Telegraph_Article.html I f you or a CONSERVATIVE person is considering relocating, I’d invite you to tell them about this family values oasis. I’d personally suggest Northern Colorado Springs as being the best and the most conservative. And just to lay my cards on the table, I am not in the Real Estate business and make nothing off...

The state has agreed to issue a relocation permit for a family of beavers in Martinez, amid an outcry from children and nature lovers over a city conclusion that the creatures should be killed and their dam removed to prevent downtown flooding. The beavers will be trapped by the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, which will evaluate their health, and they will be released later in an area approved by the state, said Martinez Mayor Rob Schroder and California Department of Fish and Game spokesman Steve Martarano. "After a quick survey, I've gotten 150 e-mails, 100 percent of them say don't kill...

I'm thinking of the Carolina mountains as my next place to live. Would you consider Asheville, with its art deco feel as the place to live or would you go for Greenville with its more settled ambience? I've lived in California on the coast all my life and I'd like to try something different. Low cost of living, affordable housing, a safe place to live and having that view outside the window without the price tag. I know Colorado is expensive because every one goes there but no one seems to know the Blue Ridge Mountains are just as stunning....

It looks like the National Rifle Association is in need of a new place to hold their 2007 Convention. How about having it at my house? Thanks to the Columbus City Council’s implementation of their own so-called “assault weapons ban,” the gun-rights group has decided to take their convention—and the estimated $15 million that comes with it—elsewhere. Members of the City Council and other Columbus-ites are confused and angry. Somehow, these dolts don’t understand why the NRA—an organization that exists solely to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms—would pull their convention from a city that...

The high cost of housing in California is prompting nearly a quarter of the Golden State's residents to seriously consider moving to cheaper digs elsewhere. What's more, when Californians buy a second home, more and more of them are buying out of state in cheaper housing markets. California has the nation's third fastest rate of home price appreciation this year, behind Nevada and Hawaii, rising more than 18 percent compared to last year, 84 percent in the past five years and a whopping 338 percent since 1980, according to the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight's Home Price Index. Nationwide...

FReeper advice sought. Hubby and I are "empty nest" types, and we need information on which states are pro-gun and which are anti-gun. We may eventually relocate, and this info will help us decide where to start looking. Thanks. E.C.

OK. Living in Seattle sucks. It's June 10th and the rest of the country is basking in warm spring weather and it's 51 degrees outside. I wouldn't mind TX, but the wife says she can't stand the heat. Is it really that hot in TX? All of TX? Are there any semi-moderate places there? Been looking at NH. I don't like snow, but I'll put up with it for 3-4 months, etc. Looking for some FReepmail from natives on the really skinny on weather, crime, taxes, etc. I took a survey and it said El Paso is the place for...
