A grief-stricken family and school are mourning the shocking death of a college student who was shot and killed in Texas this week in an apparently random assault, ABC News reported. Wes Smith, a junior at Texas Christian University, was shot multiple times early Friday while standing on a sidewalk in Fort Worth's West 7th entertainment district, according to a police affidavit. A suspect arrested shortly after the attack allegedly admitted to shooting Smith three times for no discernable reason, according to the affidavit. A man used a motorized scooter to get from victim to victim in a New York City shooting spree on Saturday that ended with one dead, three injured and a suspect in custody, police said. President Obama has raised some eyebrows by suggesting that the shooting at a Kosher supermarket in Paris last month was “random.” It was a comment the president made in making the case that the media overstates the terrorist threat and that his job fighting terrorism is akin to a big-city mayor fighting crime. Asked about the president's suggestion that the market was not targeted by the group because it was Kosher, White House spokesman Josh Earnest doubled down on Obama's characterization that the selection of target was "random." Another broad-daylight shooting just occurred, this time in Fredericksburg, VA, just off I-95. It's not even on the news yet.About an hour's drive south of where the Montgomery County shootings happened, a woman was shot in the parking lot of a Michaels fabric store. My wife was in the store at the time. The victim had left the store and carried her purchases to her minivan. She unlocked the minivan and was loading her stuff into it when she was shot.
