Fans expressed they were “seriously concerned” for Rachael Ray as she appeared to slur her words in a new cooking video. The chef, 56, took to Instagram on Monday to pay tribute to the late Tony Bennett by making his favorite dish, Ossobucco, which consists of braised veal shanks with polenta and bread. In the clip, Ray recalled inviting Bennett and his wife, Susan Crow, for dinner, where she “almost killed him.” “I had polished the floors in the kitchen because, well, Tony Bennett’s coming to dinner,” she continued. “I have to make sure the floors are perfect and the...

Boycott US doughnut chain for halting scarf ad, activists urge May 30 11:11 AM US/Eastern US activists have called for a boycott of doughnuts-and-coffee chain Dunkin Donuts after it pulled an online ad that a conservative commentator said promoted jihad. "Dunkin Donuts has capitulated and withdrawn an advertisement for its products following the allegation... that the spokeswoman in the ad was wearing a kaffiyeh, a scarf which is a staple of clothing traditionally worn by Palestinian men," the ANSWER Coalition said in a statement. ANSWER, which groups hundreds of anti-war and anti-racism organizations around the United States, called for a...

BOSTON (AP) -- Dunkin' Donuts has pulled an online advertisement featuring Rachael Ray after complaints that a fringed black-and-white scarf that the celebrity chef wore in the ad offers symbolic support for Muslim extremism and terrorism. The coffee and baked goods chain said the ad that began appearing online May 7 was pulled over the past weekend because "the possibility of misperception detracted from its original intention to promote our iced coffee." In the spot, Ray holds an iced coffee while standing in front of trees with pink blossoms. Conservative commentator Michelle Malkin complained that the scarf wrapped around her...

I’ve been a fan of Dunkin’ Donuts for years. Their Munchkins are heaven. Their coffee is better and cheaper than Starbucks. And the company’s management has taken a brave and lonely stand in support of immigration enforcement — refusing to hire illegal aliens and blowing the whistle on applicants with bogus Social Security numbers. So it was with some dismay that I learned last week that Dunkin’ Donuts spokeswoman Rachael Ray, the ubiquitous TV hostess, posed for one of the company’s ads in what appeared to be a black-and-white keffiyeh. The keffiyeh, for the clueless, is the traditional scarf of...

Does Dunkin’ Donuts really think its customers could mistake Rachael Ray for a terrorist sympathizer? The Canton-based company has abruptly canceled an ad in which the domestic diva wears a scarf that looks like a keffiyeh, a traditional headdress worn by Arab men. more stories like this Some observers, including ultra-conservative Fox News commentator Michelle Malkin, were so incensed by the ad that there was even talk of a Dunkin’ Donuts boycott. ‘‘The keffiyeh, for the clueless, is the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad,’’ Malkin yowls in her syndicated column. ‘‘Popularized by...

How did we miss this?!?! Apparently, even if Rachael's show were actually getting cancelled (it's not), she won't go down without a fight. The TV chef is working on an animated series that stars herself as a young chef. The show is being produced by Oprah's company, Harpo Productions (naturally) and is scheduled for debut in January 2009. Now, I'm not sure how I feel about this one, but to be quite honest, an animated version of Rachael might be easier on the eyes. Then again, it'll still be her voice.

Yes, she has detractors, but the chain thinks Rachael Ray's appeal will boost expansion plans Dunkin' Donuts has a new pitchwoman: TV personality Rachael Ray . As the Canton chain looks to expand nationally and get beyond its doughnut heritage, Ray's philosophy of better-for-you food seems to make her ideal for the role.

Want a recipe for disaster? Slam Oprah Kitchen queen Rachael Ray took a big ol’ bite from the hand that feeds her and reportedly made drunken disparaging remarks about Oprah Winfrey during the time her “Rachael Ray” show was being sold. A spy witness dished to TMZ.com that the red wine-fueled rant occured at a dinner in La-La back in December 2005 after a day of signing books at a mall bookstore. After four glasses of wine, Ray started talking trash about Oprah, who had actually launched Ray’s cooking career on her show. Sources told TMZ that a tipsy Ray...

Time for a dose of Pop Culture. The biggest story of the week, Food Network Chef Rachel Ray's husband really into kinky sex. Sir Paul McCartney has a bad face day. We've lots of blind items, an update on Katie Holmes' wedding lingerie-heh- and that joke of a Michael Jackson concert. Finally, the Borat controversey. He lied and people feel cheated.

Yesterday I watched Food TV. Emeril had the winners of his Italian cuisine contest on. Wow! There were some yummy dishes on there. One I need to make next week is a dish called Chicken Meatball Soup. Wine lovers will love it because you can use wine liberally in this dish. There is a newsletter I would like to recommend. I have subscribed to it for years. It's called Real Food for Real People. You can take a look at the site for it at http://www.realfood4realpeople.com
