Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) is apparently going to outline in an upcoming speech a “war plan” to defeat President Donald Trump (R) who won her state during the 2024 presidential election. During an interview with Politico about the speech she will deliver in Lansing on Thursday, Slotkin claimed the president is doing “a whole bunch of things that I think are a threat to our economy and a threat to our Democracy and I have a responsibility on behalf of my state to point that out and try to do something about that,” the outlet reported on Thursday. A recent...

So in retirement I'm looking to find things to fill my day but also provide my brain some growth. I created this game that will be on mobile devices soon. You can play it in your browser now. I'd love any feedback you have. It's feature complete at itch.io. Just click on the little graphic to start the game. -Casual play for a high score and pumpkins can combine to make a great pumpkin. -Challenge mode is just like Casual play, however, instead of getting time to choose where to drop your veggie you get a couple seconds as it...

AMERICAN FORK — Rude is the only way to describe what happened to a family in American Fork. Their prized pumpkin that came from their own garden is now missing. Dusten Batty and her husband love planting and taking care of crops in their garden. They have grown so much food lately that they have started putting a box outside their fence to give extra vegetables to their American Fork neighbors. "I even zip-tied some bags to it so they can grab bags," said Batty with a smile. What really got them excited this year, though, was their pumpkin harvest,...

WHY, KRAFT?? Following the trend of making pumpkin spice everything, Kraft is releasing -- for real -- pumpkin spice mac and cheese in Canada. Kraft says: "This spicy cheesy treat is very real and will come in a signature white cup with cinnamon spice topping ... Coming to Canadians this October, Pumpkin Spice KD is made with the same classic KD cheese powder Canadians know and love, now with added fall flavours [sic]: hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ginger." If you haven't already thrown up in your mouth a little, they're marketing it with the line "Ain't no basic...

I’ve had a request from Freeper MomwithHope to post this month on ‘Hearty Fall Fare’ - and even though it’s still hot here in DC, with Wednesday threatening record-breaking temperatures, the leaves are falling and the trees are beginning to morph into their Autumn glory. We can smell Fall. One of my first posts to FR, before I officially began this cooking thread, was about Virginia Peanut Soup. I can still remember how surprised I was on tasting it - while there was little in the soup other than peanuts, it was so rich and the flavor so unexpected. I...

I have a young friend at work who is a wonderful baker, and dreams of having his own bakery someday. He lost his Mom to cancer several years ago, and often reminisces about her and things they did together. One of his favorite memories is of the two of them making this Ina Garten recipe for Pumpkin Roulade, and it has become one of his specialties: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/pumpkin-roulade-with-ginger-buttercream.htmlAnother co-worker has recently retired, and we are having a party for him at the end of the month. Whenever we had parties and I asked Nate what he wanted me to make, he...

Move over pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin carving with an AK-47 is the new hype this fall. We all love fall. Cooler weather, football, bonfires, and hunting seasons. It is the time of year we wait for all year long. All things flavored pumpkin spice seems to create a buzz these days, but carving pumpkins with an AK-47 is the coolest thing you will see this fall. Forks, knives, mini saws, hatchets the list goes on for different tools to use to carve pumpkins. AK-47 in hand, this gentleman carves a jack-o-lantern in the coolest, manliest, and most awesome fashion we...

North Korea on Saturday boasted of a newly developed anti-tank weapon that its leader said was so powerful it could turn the most heavily armoured enemy tanks into "boiled pumpkin". Pyongyang's state media said leader Kim Jong-Un had watched tests of the portable, laser-guided rocket and declared it had the "longest firing range in the world", and was "as accurate as a sniper's rifle". "He noted with great satisfaction that even the special armoured tanks and cars of the enemies which boast their high manoeuvrability and striking power are no more than a boiled pumpkin before the anti-tank guided weapon",...

It's not really a pie nor is it a cake. It is both at the same time. A pumpkin pie/cake with a wonderful texture. Only three people in the world know the recipe including my niece, Genesis the Mermaid. Some additional commentary completely off-topic from her brother, James Jones. VIDEO

Just days before Halloween, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) warned that the holiday’s ever-present jack-o-lanterns are killing the planet. Yes, you heard that right. Big government minions are trying to ruin what should be a joyous holiday for kids (and adults too) with another climate scare story.

How scary are your jack-o’-lanterns? Scarier than you think, according to the Energy Department, which claims the holiday squash is responsible for unleashing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Most of the 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins produced in the U.S. end up in the trash, says the Energy Department’s website, becoming part of the “more than 254 million tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) produced in the United States every year.â€

Boreal Winery in Warren, east of Sudbury, is trying something new: pumpkin wine. They've used some giant pumpkins grown in Sudbury, and fermented the wine right inside the pumpkins. It was bottled just a few weeks ago, and the winery will start selling it this weekend. Owner of Boreal Winery Greg Meilien said the wine is fantastic. "[We were] quite surprised. We weren't sure what was going to happen but it turned out very, very nice," he said. Meilien said as for the taste, it's something you need to try for yourself, but added it does have a melon mid-palette...

It used to be easy for people like Kristen D’Amico, who can’t stand the taste of pumpkin pie. She merely had to say no to a slice of it on Thanksgiving Day. Not anymore. A rising tide of products flavored with pumpkin pie spice has flooded grocery store shelves and restaurant menus, and not just near her home in Deltona, Fla. Friends tease the 34-year-old stay-at-home mother with gleeful photos and text messages about pumpkin lattes, coffee creamers and pies. Relatives mock her, she says, at Thanksgiving dinner for shunning pumpkin in all its forms. The pumpkin craze “really is...

We did the heavy lifting for you, sampling nearly a dozen pumpkin and fall beers. Whether in soups, lattes, candles or cookies, pumpkin is here. And before we get into Thanksgiving or Christmas, let's pause and raise a glass. ‘Tis the season for pumpkin beer, y’all. We sampled nearly a dozen pumpkin brews and ciders to help you choose which one (or three) to bring to that fall party. (Protip: Total Wine sells them individually so you can build your own six-pack.) We sampled both pumpkin beers and fall seasonals since we know not everyone wants Jack (o'-lantern) in his...
