The Italian culture ministry is advocating for a law that would impose a large fine on individuals found to have vandalized the country’s monuments or cultural sites to cover repair costs. The move follows protests staged by climate activists in Italian squares. During a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, Italian lawmakers approved the culture ministry’s proposed legislation. The fine for potential violators of Italy’s cultural sites is proposed at a range between 10,000 and 60,000 euros ($11,000–$65,000). The proposal is expected to be approved by the right-leaning Italian parliament. Related Articles A portrait of Pablo Picasso plowed into a field....

Photos surfaced on Facebook of staff at an elementary school in Middleton, Idaho, dressing as Mexicans and President Trump’s proposed border wall along with the saying, “Make America Great Again,” and waving American flags. Parents flagged the post as being potentially insensitive to some of the students and the local DACA group reported the photos saying they were “extremely disheartening.”

A vehicle that was carjacked early Friday morning by the suspects of Monday’s terrorist bombing of the Boston Marathon has the “COEXIST” sticker affixed to its bumper. The bumper sticker, which spells out “COEXIST” using the Islamic moon, a peace symbol, a gender symbol, the Star of David, a pagan symbol, a ying-yang and a cross, is put out by the Coexist Foundation — “a non-profit organization creating understanding across divides.”

President Obama has never run a business or been forced to negotiate unless he was in a position of overwhelming strength. He is obviously clueless as to how the real world works. (The Hill) — In the midst of a rebellion from his own colleagues, John Boehner faced a big decision. It was 10 p.m. last Thursday, the most stressful moment of his Speakership. Boehner’s debt-limit bill was short on votes, and the GOP leadership was forced to change the measure so it could attract the support of recalcitrant members. With dozens of reporters staking out the Speaker’s office and...

The White House posted several images of President Obama and staffers planning and reviewing updates from the military raid that ended in the death of Osama bin Laden. The White House Flickr account has been used extensively during the Obama administration, showing us candid and behind-the-scenes images from the First Family’s daily lives as well as President Obama’s diplomatic work. In fact, the administration’s overall use of social media has been impressive. However, few pics from the account will ever get the attention garnered by this historic string of photos. These images show the palpable tension in the Situation Room...

WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry on Monday criticized President Bush's record on homeland security, saying his Republican rival is "big on bluster and short on action" in protecting the nation. Speaking to the International Association of Firefighters, a 263,000-member union that has endorsed his candidacy, the four-term Massachusetts senator argued that Bush talks tough on terrorism but has failed to back it up with the financial resources firefighters and other first responders need. "I do not fault George Bush for doing too much in the war on terror, I believe he's done too little," Kerry said. "I think...
