SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s father Errol Musk said Friday on Al Arabiya English’s “Global News Today” that President Donald Trump will “prevail” in the public feud with his son. Musk said, “It seems a bit silly to me.” Host Tom Burges Watson said, “Do you think this is a bump in the road, or do you think this is the end of the road for the relationship between your son and Mr. Trump?” Musk said, “Just a bump in the road. It will fizzle out in a few days.” He continued, “I haven’t spoken to him, but I...

Former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway said in an interview with The 19th‘s Amanda Becker that while President Donald Trump has “the right” to exhaust his legal challenges, it looked like Joe Biden “will prevail.” Conway said, “Well, The president wants to exhaust all of his legal avenues, as he has made clear many times. His team is doing that. I see in the papers they are doing that, going to different states and trying to do that. And of course, that is his right.”

If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too: If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise; If you can dream---and not make dreams your master; If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim, If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those...

TO read the newspapers, one would believe US power was in steep decline. There are prophets of error, the many critics who believe US foreign policy has gone seriously wrong, especially in Iraq. And there are prophets of weakness, such as Yale historian Paul Kennedy, who wrote even before the end of the Cold War that the US had succumbed to "imperial overstretch". How much more are we overstretched today when we face crises in three or four places across the globe? I am sceptical about these arguments. The great fact is that the US has become a dominant nation....

WASHINGTON, Nov. 28, 2006 -- Afghanistan is NATO’s most important military operation, President Bush said today in Riga, Latvia. “By standing together in Afghanistan, we’ll protect our people, defend our freedom, and send a clear message to the extremists: The forces of freedom and decency will prevail,” he said in a speech at Latvia University. Bush is in Riga attending a summit of leaders of NATO nations. All 26 NATO allies and 11 other partner nations are conducting a variety of missions in Afghanistan: operating provincial reconstruction teams, conducting combat operations to root out Taliban fighters, and training the...

SACRAMENTO — Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Tuesday that he is placing no limits on the personal wealth he will contribute toward his Nov. 8 special election to revamp government and acknowledged his measures zap Democrats, though unintentionally. In a small round-table interview with reporters, Schwarzenegger also said that a tax hike would eventually be inevitable if his proposed spending-limit initiative fails — but he said he is confident the unpopular measure and others ultimately will be approved by voters in November. In response to a question about how many millions of dollars he is prepared to contribute to his...

SACRAMENTO - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger expressed confidence Tuesday he can persuade voters to approve several "reform" measures in the special election he called for Nov. 8, although he acknowledged making mistakes in his effort, starting with a widely publicized comment last year calling nurses a special interest group whose "butts" he is always kicking. In an interview with The Associated Press, Schwarzenegger discussed a wide range of matters pertaining to the special election and his own decision to pursue a second term next year. Among other things, he said that, "in principle," he supported Proposition 73, a ballot measure requiring...

In his new book, Radical Evolution: The Promise and Peril of Enhancing Our Minds, Our Bodies—And What It Means to Be Human, (Random House, 2005), author Joel Garreau describes research so cutting edge it seems mind-boggling: • A telekinetic monkey at Duke University in North Carolina uses its mind to move a robotic arm 600 miles (a thousand kilometers) away in Cambridge, Massachusetts. • At a Pentagon R-and-D facility in Virginia, program managers aim to create the ultimate warriors—soldiers that can fight without sleeping, tell their bodies to stop bleeding, and regrow lost hands and limbs. Garreau notes that regular...

TWO years on, the murderous assault on the World Trade Centre remains one of the most obscene attacks on a free and open society by any group of fanatics. It was, and still is, one of the most vicious attacks on innocent citizens from all walks of life and from many faiths. Millions of words have been written about September 11 and its consequences. But the volume of analysis cannot disguise the fact that September 11 was a chilling ideological statement from fanatics whose target was - and remains - the very essence of our free and democratic way of...

SAN FRANCISCO - A federal appeals court reinstated a lawsuit challenging part of California's campaign-finance law, but suggested Thursday that the rule requiring public disclosure of those opposing or supporting ballot measures is constitutional.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals supported a 1974 California law demanding those who spend more than $1,000 publicly touting or opposing ballot measures must make public their expenditures. The court rejected a claim by the California Pro-Life Council Inc. that said such requirements violated First Amendment free speech protections.
