Play-Doh will soon be squeezed out of a factory in the U.S. again, as Hasbro Inc. brings manufacturing of the popular moldable clay back to America for the first time in years.  Hasbro said it is working with a manufacturing partner to make Play-Doh at a facility in East Longmeadow, Mass., starting in the second half of 2018. Although the preschool clay was invented in Cincinnati in the 1950s, it hasn't been made in the U.S. since 2004. 

Staffers at the University of Michigan Law School scheduled a post-presidential election event entitled “Post-election Self-care with Food and Play.” The event, featuring Play-Doh, bubbles and Legos, has now apparently been canceled — possibly in response to heaps of ridicule. “People are frustrated, people are just really sad and shocked,” said Trey Boynton, the director of multi-ethnic student affairs at the University of Michigan. “A lot of people are feeling like there has been a loss. We talked about grief today and about the loss of hope that this election would solidify the progress that was being made.” There was a steady flow of students entering Ms. Boynton’s office Wednesday. They spent the day sprawled around the center, playing with Play-Doh and coloring in coloring books, as they sought comfort and distraction.

Parents took to social media to share images of the tool, called the extruder, which came as part of Play-Doh’s Sweet Shoppe Cake Mountain play set and which parents agree shares a strong resemblance to a male’s private parts.

Identity thieves are always looking for new ways to pry out personal information, from trolling through trash cans to phishing for bank accounts online. But here is one method they may not have tried: using fake fingers made from Play-Doh and gelatin, or taking digits from a cadaver's hand. In a study, researchers at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., tested 66 fake fingers to see if they could outwit biometric devices, which identify individuals based on the physiological properties of their fingerprints or other body parts. Consumers should stop using the toy and call McDonald's Customer Satisfaction Department at 1-800-244-6227 for instructions on returning the toy in return for a McDonald's Gift Certificate. The product meets all federal, voluntary ASTM and Hasbro safety standards, but does not meet McDonald's specifications.
