McDonald's Corporation Issues Consumer Advisory on PLAY-DOH McNugget Fri Nov 21 2003 19:49:17 ET
McDonald's Corporation today alerted retailers and consumers who purchased Hasbro Inc.'s PLAY-DOH McNugget Mini-tool to remove it from their shelves. Consumers should stop using the toy and call McDonald's Customer Satisfaction Department at 1-800-244-6227 for instructions on returning the toy in return for a McDonald's Gift Certificate.
The product meets all federal, voluntary ASTM and Hasbro safety standards, but does not meet McDonald's specifications.

McDonald's tells buyers not to use Play-Doh toy
Friday November 21, 9:05 pm ET LOS ANGELES, Nov 21 (Reuters) - McDonald's Corp. (NYSE:MCD - News) on Friday told retailers to stop selling and consumers to stop using Hasbro Inc.'s (NYSE:HAS - News) Play-Doh McNugget Mini-tool because it does not meet the fast-food chain's safety standards.
This is more of a cover-your-ass statement than reality.
That answers the burning question I've had for yrs.
What is the generic 'meat' McDonalds uses in their prducts?
The 'meat' that, with tartar sauce is 'fish',
with mustard and ketchup is 'hamburger',
and what I had the other day, with BBQ sauce is 'McRib'?
And with honey mustard is 'chicken'.
Thinking back, I do remember my kids spending all their time fashioning their Play-Doh into arches. hmmmmm

And if so, could they taste the difference between the Play-Doh nugget and a real one?
Heh, heh... this thread reads like an old Saturday Night Live "Consumer Probe" skit. I can still see Dan Aykroyd as the self-absorbed, completely ignorant sleazeball president of Mainway Toys, who half-heartedly tries to convince the public that his dangerous toys are safe. I have an indelible memory of his sunglasses and slicked back hair.
Secret Police Confession Kit! Mr. Skin Grafter! Johnny Switchblade Adventure Punk! Teddy Chainsaw Bear! And my own personal favorite, the Bag O line, featuring Bag O Glass, Bag O Vipers and Bag O Sulfuric Acid!! Obviously, one of the toy designers responsible for the McPlaydough Nuggets was a big fan of the Mainway Toys product line. :-)
