Hasbro to Make Play-Doh American Again
FOX ^ | February 25, 2017 | Paul Ziobro

Play-Doh will soon be squeezed out of a factory in the U.S. again, as Hasbro Inc. brings manufacturing of the popular moldable clay back to America for the first time in years.

Hasbro said it is working with a manufacturing partner to make Play-Doh at a facility in East Longmeadow, Mass., starting in the second half of 2018. Although the preschool clay was invented in Cincinnati in the 1950s, it hasn't been made in the U.S. since 2004.

I use to be a Play-doh addict when I was a kid. That was back in the ancient times of the 1960s when we didn’t have computers and we didn’t even have a TV. That stuff is made mostly of flour if you can believe it.

It’s not a G.I. Joe with a frogman suit, but it’ll do.

Apparently that’s an architect’s rendering of the actual plant. A Mr. Vandalay, I believe.

Nothing so beautiful as the aroma of a freshly opened can of Play-Doh. I wouldn’t mind working there just for the ever-present bouquet of the stuff.

Brought back memories - had one when I was 9, mys sister was 7 and my brother was 4. Still remember the smell of the Play-Doh, used to love it.

Do you remember the taste, lol? Salty, pretty gross but better than Silly Putty.

It’s great because I never eat anything from China so I can go back to eating Play-Doh again. My personal favorite is the red color. I need to get a letter off to Jim Harbaugh and let him know that it really is a lot better tasting and societally polite than eating your own boogers

I do - anything that smelled that good needed to be tasted - was salty (and better than Silly Putty which also had an interesting smell but not as appetizing)

Fresh mimeograph paper. The minty aroma of library paste. Ah, childhood memories.

Hopefully they’ve changed the formula. It’s been over 50 years since I played with Play-Doh, but as I remember it, if you left it out of the can for more than 2 minutes it turned to granite and you couldn’t use it again.

And after it turned to granite we had to buy more... pure marketing genius.
