Early Sunday evening, controversial pastor (see endnotes) and noted plagiarizer Mark Driscoll took to Twitter to complain that his new book “New Days, Old Demons: Ancient Paganism Masquerading as Progressive Christianity” got him suspended from Amazon. He claimed the online retail giant was trying to “silence the word of God and faithful Bible teachers” and urged followers to purchase it from his website instead. While it’s true that his book wasn’t available on Amazon at the time of his tweet, it’s also true that it wasn’t available anywhere. Not at Barnes and Noble, Books a Million, Thriftbooks, or Powells. Driscoll’s...

On Sunday, a stunned audience sat in silence as Doris Kearns Goodwin turned the keynote address at the opening ceremony for the 150th anniverary of the Battle of Gettysburg into a political lecture focusing on women's and gay rights. Missing from much of her keynote: Gettysburg. Self-centered, insular, and oblivious to the occasion, the historian who was infamously caught plagiarizing merely recycled much of what she has said before about herself in previous speeches. And her rambling, self-promoting, and borderline inappropriate lecture touched upon nearly everything except for the heroic sacrifices made on that battlefield. In so doing, she desecrated...

In an interview with The Washington Post's editorial board, Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) asserted that he is more prepared to be president than any other candidate, disputed the notion that governors are better suited for the White House than senators and warned that Pakistan is a potentially bigger threat than Iran. Biden also stumbled through a discourse on race and education, leaving the impression that he believes one reason that so many District of Columbia schools fail is the city's high minority population. His campaign quickly issued a statement saying he meant to indicate that the disadvantages were based on...

Indian-Americans lash out at US Senator By Sridhar Krishnaswami in Washington | Friday, 07 July , 2006, 12:03 Ranking Democrat in the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joseph Biden, who allegedly made comments belittling Indian Americans, has come under attack from an organisation representing the community. Senator Biden during his recent trip to New Hampshire told an Indian American activist that "in Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 [a chain store] or a Dunkin Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking". Slamming Biden for...

After more than 30 years in the United States Senate and nearly 20 years after his first try for his party’s Presidential nomination, Joseph Biden has no doubts about making another run for the White House. “I’m in,” the Delaware Democrat said Friday as he began a five-day visit to the first-in-the-nation primary state. “I know I’m supposed to hedge, but I’m in.” Biden dropped out of the 1988 nomination race amid allegations of plagiarism. He then suffered a cerebral aneurysm virtually on the eve of the New Hampshire primary. He recalls being given a 30 percent chance of surviving....

Tonight, embattled University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill issued a statement defending his scholarship and threatening the school for attempting to fire him. CU announced on Monday a decision to terminate Churchill, who began to be investigated for academic misconduct after an essay he wrote compared victims of the September 11th terrorist attack to an infamous Nazi. Statement released Tuesday by University of Colorado-Boulder professor Ward Churchill: It was quite predictable that Interim Chancellor Phil DiStefano would recommend that I be fired from my tenured professorship at the University of Colorado/Boulder. After all, he was effectively ordered to find some...

WASHINGTON (BNW) — If there were ever a reason for Blacks to leave the Democratic Party, the time is now, because House Democrats voted Thursday evening to suspend a Black member, Rep. William Jefferson from his seat on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. Unshaken by both his own argument that the sanction was unfair and complaints from other Black lawmakers that he was the victim of a double standard, white Democrats kicked that Nigger in the ass.

A Moorestown teen who sued to be her high school's sole valedictorian settles a lawsuit with the town's school board. Blair Hornstine sued the school for $2.7 million after the Moorestown Board of Education sought to revise the school's valedictorian policy to allow for more than one student to hold the top honor. Hornstine, who sought to be the only valedictorian in the class of 2003, remains valedictorian, but will get only $15,000 from the litigation. The school district and its insurance carriers agreed to pay $60,000 to settle the case. Of that, $45,000 will go to Hornstine's lawyers, according...
