The use of "invisible" tracking tech in emails is now "endemic", according to a messaging service that analysed its traffic at the BBC's request. Hey's review indicated that two-thirds of emails sent to its users' personal accounts contained a "spy pixel", even after excluding for spam. Its makers said that many of the largest brands used email pixels, with the exception of the "big tech" firms. Defenders of the trackers say they are a commonplace marketing tactic. And several of the companies involved noted their use of such tech was mentioned within their wider privacy policies. Emails pixels can be...

Pac-Man and Donkey Kong master Billy Mitchell has built up quite the reputation for himself over the last few decades, both for his undeniable gaming skills and his abrasive and competitive personality. Unfortunately, it appears he’ll now be remembered for something else, as well: Cheating. Twin Galaxies, a retro-gaming record organization that tracks scores in many classic arcade games, announced on April 12 that it was removing Billy Mitchell’s Donkey Kong scores from its leaderboards, as well as all scores he had achieved in other games. The decision comes after the validity of several of his Donkey Kong scores were called...
  • How Sony sanitized the new Adam Sandler movie to please Chinese censors

In a 2013 script for the movie “Pixels,” intergalactic aliens blast a hole in one of China’s national treasures – the Great Wall. That scene is gone from the final version of the sci-fi comedy, starring Adam Sandler and released by Sony Pictures Entertainment this week in the United States. The aliens strike iconic sites elsewhere, smashing the Taj Mahal in India, the Washington Monument and parts of Manhattan. Sony executives spared the Great Wall because they were anxious to get the movie approved for release in China, a review of internal Sony Pictures emails shows. It is just one...
  • Big and Little Pixels (The END of Obama ??)

I'm not any sort of graphics expert. I invite the comments of those who are. But if any are going to tell me that Adobe Acrobat or Illustrator do these things to a pdf file, then please provide me with some example from the Internet of a pdf file that was posted before April of this year that purports to be derived from a single scan of a single document, that exhibits the same peculiarities as those I show here, which are present in what I will refer to as Bamie's Bogus Birth Certificate II (BBBCII). I think all must...
  • President Obama's Long Form Birth Certificate, The Truth Is In The Pixels and anyone can see it.

Lots of people have been discussing the subject of the layers found within President Obama's Long Form Birth Certificate. What I haven't really heard discussed yet is the easiliest seen and most damning problem with the document. It contains mixed pixel sizes, clearly visable to anyone by merely zooming in on the PDF in Adobe Reader. First off, let's download the document from the White House. http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/birth-certificate-long-form.pdf Once you have downloaded the PDF, follow my instructions for examining it. Some of you may choose to close your eyes to this and not try... But all who do will be in...

And finally, while browsing the web this evening, I ran across Brad Warthen's blog at The State. Brad discovered some interesting pixellation embedded in the Obama- hope poster. Click on the photo to enlarge. [cue spooky music...]
  • Cash pours in for student with $1 million Web idea

If you have an envious streak, you probably shouldn't read this. Because chances are, Alex Tew, a 21-year-old student from a small town in England, is cleverer than you. And he is proving it by earning a cool million dollars in four months on the Internet. Selling porn? Dealing prescription drugs? Nope. All he sells are pixels, the tiny dots on the screen that appear when you call up his home page. He had the brainstorm for his million dollar home page, called, logically enough, www.milliondollarhomepage.com, while lying in bed thinking out how he would pay for university. The idea:...
