Many will remember celebrity outlaw Ronnie Biggs landing at Gatwick Airport in May 2001 and being immediately arrested. Having participated in the Great Train Robbery of 1963, in which £2.6 million was stolen and the driver badly beaten, he subsequently escaped prison and lived for decades as an international fugitive. Most would agree that this arrest, however dramatic, was more than justified. But you might struggle to make the same case for Graham Linehan, the comedy writer most famous for Father Ted. Yet there he was, apprehended by five armed police officers after landing at Heathrow Airport on Tuesday, as though...

The owner of a vast tract of virgin forest land in north-central Norway is in big trouble after chopping down trees on his own property. Newspaper Aftenposten reported Tuesday that the 54-year-old forest owner has been sentenced to six months in jail for chopping down the trees on his land in Flatanger, Nord-Trøndelag. The trees he chopped were in an area that was part of an officially designated nature preserve. Parrot Visits New Jersey Turnpike Offices Wed Aug 25,10:05 AM ET EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. - New Jersey Turnpike officials are trying to find the owner of a parrot that dropped in on them unexpectedly. The colorful Amazon parrot flew into a window Monday and landed stunned on a walkway. The bird ran around as workers scrambled to catch it. Finally, a cinnamon bagel was enough to lure the bird into a box. Anyone who tries to claim the 12-inch green-and-yellow bird must show proof of ownership.
