It would be an exaggeration for me to say Rick Perry is my friend, but I can say we are friendly acquaintances. I liked him and I have reason to believe he liked me from the first time we met, when he invited me, the late Andrew Breitbart and others to go shooting with him in Austin back in 2009. (Yes, Perry was one of the first major politicians into new media.) Later, I joined him at the NASCAR races at the Texas Motor Speedway, which was rather like going to the Grand Ole Opry with Johnny Cash.By this time...

Businesswoman turned politician Carly Fiorina is angry with CNN. The reason? The network is likely to leave her out of its prime time debate because she’s supposedly not polling in the top 10. The only problem with that? She clearly is. As Howie Kurtz explained on Fox News, CNN, however, is using older polls — from before the first Fox News debate — to assemble its “top 10″ of candidates. It’s clear that this is extremely bad for Fiorina, since she barely had name recognition before that debate. After it, however, she quickly surged in the polls and suddenly become...

This morning, the Pennsylvania House State Government Committee held a hearing on the case of the Democrats caught accepting bribes in exchange for voting against voter ID in the state. The case against the Democrats is well-documented, yet Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane, a Democrat, scuttled it shortly after she took office. Kane also accused the career investigators who built the case of racism. That charge doesn’t stand up to any level of scrutiny. The investigation targeted Republicans and Democrats, male and female, black and white. As it so happens, only Democrats chose to accept the bribes, and those members...

Today Pajamas Media sheds its pajamas and officially becomes PJ Media. Actually, we have had a couple of names before this. The first one — OSM — was a fiasco. I can’t recall the exact moment after we launched in November 2005 I learned that there already was an OSM (Open Source Media), but I certainly remember how I felt — I needed this like the proverbial hole in the head. After about six months of deliberation, Glenn Reynolds, Charles Johnson, Nina Yablok, Ed Driscoll, Steve Green, Richard Fernandez, Sandra Rozanski, myself and the rest of the gang involved in...

Former Department of Justice (DOJ) officials are calling for an investigation into the current hiring practices at DOJ, which they say have become politicized under Eric Holder and the Obama administration. Pajamas Media conducted an analysis of the resumes of hired individuals in five sections in the Civil Rights Division. The conservative media outfit was only able to obtained the documents after filing a federal lawsuit in response to DOJ’s 10 month rebuff of their Freedom of Information Act request. Based on their investigation into five sections of the Civil Rights Division, the researchers at Pajamas Media found that every...

Unless they get so angry at us that they send terminators from the future to kill us.Wow, that whole debt-ceiling debate was scary. For a while there, it looked like a few radical extremists were going to keep the country from going further into debt. And then where would we be? Without all the free stuff we like, because some people are stuck on the primitive notion that a budget should balance? I think you can say without hyperbole that people who think like that are literally terrorists, except a million times worse. What makes people think the government should...

Beck is not only on the right side of history, defending the lone democracy in a sea of despotism, he is also helping ensure the survival of Judaism. In Prime Minister NetanyahuÂ’s 1999 book A Durable Peace he writes: If there had been a Jewish state in the first half of the century, there would have been no holocaust. And if there had not been a Jewish state after the holocaust, there would have been no Jewish future. The state of Israel is not only the repository of the millennial Jewish hopes for redemption; it is also the one practical instrument...

Las Vegas newspaper copyright enforcement company Righthaven LLC’s standing to file lawsuits is being challenged again, this time in Colorado. Righthaven since March 2010 has filed 274 lawsuits alleging copyright infringement against website operators, bloggers and message board posters. It sues over Las Vegas Review-Journal and Denver Post material. Its standing to sue is under attack in several cases and U.S. District Judge James Mahan in Las Vegas has said that under its lawsuit contract with the Review-Journal, Righthaven does not appear to have standing to sue. Mahan has rescheduled until next month a hearing on that issue. Defense attorneys...

Righthaven Goes After Pajamas Media, Despite DMCA Agent & Strong Fair Use Case from the thought-righthaven-was-avoiding-those-things dept It's been a little while since we covered what newspaper copyright troll Righthaven was up to, but Eric Goldman alerts us to one recent legal filing from the operation that raises some questions. Historically, Righthaven has been careful to avoid websites that have registered a DMCA agent, knowing that under the DMCA it's supposed to issue a takedown notice before suing. However, this case, in going after the successful blog network Pajamas Media, appears to ignore the fact that Pajamas Media has registered....

The False Issue of “Race” in the Arab-Israeli Conflict By Barry Rubin August 8, 2010 This article was published by Pajamas Media and you can link to their version. As the waitress whose family had come from Ethiopia put the pizza on the table at the Tel Aviv restaurant, I contemplated the ridiculous misuse of “race” as a factor in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Regardless of skin color, we belong not only to the same country by way of citizenship but also to the same nation and people in a very profound way that isn’t true for countries that are merely...

Democratic Party front group Media Matters for America has been loyally defending First Lady Michelle Obama's luxurious Spanish vacation this week even as other liberals concede the Obama administration made a politically insensitive call in signing off on the trip.Today, Media Matters attacked Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit/Pajamas Media for his critique of Michelle Obama's trip. The headline of the attack piece: Michelle Obama derangement syndrome: Instapundit posts pic of First Lady as Marie AntoinetteNot only does the headline reinforce the growing meme that Michelle Obama is acting like a rich pig, but upon opening the article one is confronted with...

Since President Obama’s inauguration, Americans have been subjected to an unprecedented display of political arrogance. The monetary actions of the president and Democrats in both houses are completely untethered from the serious spending concerns of voters of all stripes. Some actions exhibit such a level of self-interest that they are in blatant disregard of the fact that such accountability even exists at all. To believe otherwise is to accept that the majority of Americans would opt, of their own free choice, to take millions from their precious and dwindling resources and spend it on Nancy Pelosi’s little mice. Not likely....

Conservatives Must Step Up to the Plate Jerry McConnell I just read a blog, written by Eric Florack of PajamasMedia.com, in which he details a lot of the mixed feelings on the Republican Party that surfaced at the CPAC conference held last weekend. [...]I believe and understand as they do that conservatism is just about everything a socialist, liberal Democrat is not, such as: Pro-life; Pro-freedom; Pro-USA; Pro-Christian; Pro-Israel; Pro-family; Pro-traditional marriage; Pro-free market capitalism; Pro-war-on-terror and war on Islamofascism and terror in the Middle East and everywhere; Pro-military and Pro providing the necessary equipment to monitor our known enemies...

BC: I must say that I am filled with admiration for the way you sat before those inquisitors/twits on The View and remained dignified throughout. Apart from publicly displaying your bravery, what’s the payoff from appearing alongside those demented harpies? Ann Coulter: Being around that bunch makes me feel younger and more attractive! It’s like going to a spa. BC: Do you have any untelevised comments from that appearance you wish to share? Perhaps something along the lines of their lambasting you during a commercial break? Ann Coulter: Actually I think the show speaks very well for itself. That’s why...

Pajamas Media, a conservative blog network/affiliate advertising company (note: think BlogAds) is shutting down their advertising network by April 1st, an item that caught many (conservative) bloggers off guard. (hat tip: Atlas Shrugged) (Roger L. Simon) As a result we have decided to wind down the Pajamas Media Blogger and advertising network effective March 31, 2009. The PJM portal and the XPressBlogs will continue as is. Since our ad relationship continues for the time being, you should note that in order to be paid for the 1st quarter of 2009, you must leave the current Pajamas ads up until 12:01AM...

The media is desperate to see McCain defeated and save the Democratic ticket. They have a lot at stake. John McCain believes he is in an existential war. America is engaged in a death struggle against Islamic terrorists. But he is also fighting for his life: against a media establishment dedicated to his political destruction. Any pretense of fairness by the mainstream media is gone. The MSNBC duo of anchor buffoons have been downgraded but not fired. The Washington Post runs dueling front page articles — one a recycled tabloid-like piece (apologies to our tabloid friends who generally don’t recycle...
