Veterans Day will be bit different for Richard Overton. The man believed to be the nation's oldest living veteran spends most days smoking cigars and enjoying his whiskey. But today? He's spending Veterans Day with President Obama. Overton, 107, enjoys up to 12 cigars a day and likes to enjoy his morning coffee with a little whiskey, a beverage he credits in part with his long, healthy life. The Austin, Texas, resident still drives, walks without a cane and regularly attends church. He said he was taken aback when he got the invitation to the White House.

An Overton ninth-grade math teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave after a freshman student said the teacher threw a mechanical pencil at him. Overton Police Department Cpt. Clayton Taylor said a 15-year-old and his parents went to the police station Wednesday to file assault charges against the teacher. Overton, Texas (AP) -- An 82-year-old man has been charged with reckless driving after being accused of barreling his pickup truck into a Cub Scout troop at a Christmas parade in Texas. Overton officials say Charles George was arraigned Tuesday and has relinquished his license as a condition of his bond. George is accused of going around a barricade near downtown Overton on Monday evening and ramming into the lined-up Scouts.
