CHICAGO — A Chicago police officer has died after being shot multiple times in the Gage Park neighborhood on the city’s Southwest Side while returning home from duty overnight. Chicago Police Department Supt. Larry Snelling confirmed in a briefing Sunday morning outside the University of Chicago Medical Center that the officer was pronounced dead.

A garbageman allegedly knifed two people during a dispute on tony Forest Hills’ Austin Street, then fled in his sanitation truck, police said. The two men, ages 35 and 34, were in an argument with the worker around 4:30 a.m. on Austin Street near 71st Avenue when the sanit man pulled out a knife, stabbing one in the chest and the other in the abdomen, police said. The garbageman, who worked for a private carting company, then hopped in his truck and took off while the victims took themselves to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where they were in stable condition....

Seven shootings killed two people and wounded a further eight overnight in Democrat-run Milwaukee, Wisconsin. CBS 58 reported the shootings began about 7:30 p.m. Saturday night and continued until just before 5 a.m. The two shooting fatalities occurred in the incident shortly after midnight Sunday. Boats like the Conception, which caught fire around 3 a.m. on Sept. 2 and sank, are required to have a crewmember keep watch at night. NEW YORK – First indications are that Tiger Woods' return has increased television viewership of the Masters by 50 percent. The Nielsen Co. said that ESPN's coverage of the Masters' first round on Thursday had a 3.6 rating in an overnight measurement of the nation's biggest markets.
