Forecast: Record Lows Possible Overnight
Beautiful Weekend In Store
POSTED: 4:37 pm EDT August 6, 2004

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Record lows are possible Friday night in Central Ohio, according to 4 Warn Storm Team chief meteorologist Jym Ganahl.

Skies will be clear Friday night, and the temperature could drop to 49 degrees in Columbus and into the mid-40s in southeastern Ohio, Ganahl said. Columbus' record low is 51, set in 1994.

Saturday will be sunny with a high of 76.

It will be sunny again Sunday with a high of 81 and a low of 55.

Clouds will increase Monday as the high reaches 82. The low will be 63.

Showers and thunderstorms could develop Tuesday with a high of 77 and a low of 64.

It will be breezy and cooler Wednesday with a high of 74 and a low of 53.

Ganahl said that the next cold front that arrives Tuesday will give Central Ohio temperatures similar to what the area experienced at the end of this week. That means the "dog days" of summer could end without a single 90-degree day.

Ya think Dubya will get credit for keeping 'Merica cool during a heated election?

Probably not...

It looks like global cooling really accelerated in the past week. Absolutely beautiful here in Oklahoma!

I have been thoroughly enjoying this summer. This is the nicest one, so far, with the exception of a few days, in ten years here in Chicago.

Baltimore is in the same boat. Record low 51, overnight temperatures predicted to be 51. The dew point at BWI at 6:54 was 45.

Of course, tomorrow in Eugene, OR, where my mother lives, is predicted to be sunny, 83, with overnight lows of 50. Just another normal summer day, there.

It's been gorgeous here this afternoon. Mid-70's today and in the 50's tonight, which is unheard of in southeastern VA in August. I wish it could stay this way but we'll be in the 90's again by Monday.

7:00 at the TRI dew point down to 48.

1950 record of 50 is definitely in jeopardy tonight.

More Freeper weather, please.

Out here in the Queen City of the Rockies; beautiful Helena, Montana our August weather has been absolutely MAGNIFICENT!!! In August we typically average .08 of moisture for the entire month of August; we've had at least three afternoon thunderstorms so far this month; one which dumped over an inch of rain... Highs in the mid 80's lows in the 50's; low humidity...

Life is good... Now would somebody tell Mama T we don't want nor need Skerry mucking around in our MAGNIFICENT weather???

Here it is, August 6 - when it's normally 80 degrees by 8:30 AM - and we cranked up Marching Band practice outside and it was 63 degrees at 9 AM! Heck it didn't get past 84 degrees all day.

Normal high this time of year is around 100 degrees....

I guess it's all that global warming we have been hearing about....

Effin' Kerry promised us perfect temps. And Fairbanks is running for which party?

The temperature isn't perfect in Fairbanks. 79 is too hot, and there is still far too much daylight.

Here in So Cal, our usual "June Gloom" has streched into August. Three miles from the coast today, it was cloudy until noon with a high of 73.

Here in the south, during a usual summer, a 79° beer maybe pretty refreshing! (Ever try 101° with 89% humidity?)

Yeah, too much daylight is a bummer. You folks do make that up in the winter - no?

Here in New York I told people that today's weather (cool and dry, with a high of about 75) was typical of a summer day in the foothills of southern Alberta. I could get used to this!
