WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Airline stocks bottomed Wednesday after Delta Air Lines Inc.’s financial results that missed Wall Street targets and revived anxiety industry profits would shrink quickly at the end of the peak travel season. Shares of the biggest U.S. carriers have been bouncing along at one-year lows this week: Jet fuel prices remain high, and though demand among well-heeled business travelers has held up despite concerns of an economic slowdown, leisure travel looks poised to drop.
