To the happy few who may read this...I used to post here as Pat The Postman. Never insulted anyone. Just presented facts. Paid respect to everyone. Yesterday I participated in a highly interesting thread about the War On Iraq/Terrorism. Today I posted a link to an official report from the UK from the Chatham House, a deeply respected think tank, held in high esteem all over the world. And what happened? Well it’s finally over. I’ve been kicked off of Free Republic. The moderators have lost their sense of humor and are drunk with power. Laugh a little boys don’t be so serious. My guess is that this post won’t even get posted but will see. Because of your actions this day I have gone to the dark side. The battle is joined, the end is near. The ZOT will not stop me. First vanity post: The Administrator of FR has made it clear that my posts are no longer wanted here. They have been erased for reasons unclear with the Administrator being incredibly disingenuous about "spamming". I posted a picture twice and IMHO that is not spamming. Last night renowned and respected Freeper, Dog Gone, posted a vanity. It was his first. It was his last. Dog Gone is GONE! He wanted to convey to all his fellow freepers that he could not take the humiliation and pain suffered by having a thread deleted. As most wounded dogs, he is now licking his wounds. We have suffered through countless vanities about cheese, moose, cheating, the Tourist Guy, and Anna Kournikova. And the Admin Moderators chose to make an example of Dog Gone. I'll keep this short and simple. After six years of membership on FR I've decided to resign from the forum today. I'll keep checking my freepmail for a few days and wind down my posts here, so if any of you wish to contact me please do so there and I will provide you with a means to do so. I hope to continue future posting activities elsewhere - perhaps a blog - but only time will tell. It's truly been a blast and left me with many fond memories, but all good things had to come to an end....

Well, that time has come for me. I’m leaving FR. However, I do not consider this an “opus”, as I am NOT going to use it to rehash old slights or arguments, or to give my personal opinion of what “should be done around here”. As has been so often pointed out, this is Jim Robinson’s site, and he runs it as he sees fit. Rather, all I’m going to do here is give a general reason for my departure, and say a hearty-but-sad “GOODBYE!” to all the folks here who have enriched my life in the past four years....

Over the past two years, civility and thoughtful discourse has vanished from this site, replaced with demands for ideological conformity that are straight out of Stalinist Russia or China's Great Cultural Revolution, and unrelenting uncivility if said conformance is not forthcoming.
