HBO’s John Oliver Learned backstage during an interview with Entertainment Tonight that former President Donald Trump won the Iowa caucuses, which he said spoiled his “magical Emmys moment” on Monday night, reminding him that “joy is ephemeral, pain is forever.” Oliver said, before dropping his microphone. “You know, Mr. Trump did win the Iowa caucus tonight, so you’ve got some work to do this week,” Entertainment Tonight’s Nischelle Turner told John Oliver, which appeared to be news to the Last Week Tonight host, who replied, “He did?”

Comedian and podcast host Joe Rogan invited overnight music sensation Oliver Anthony to perform at his club, The Comedy Mothership, Tuesday night. Anthony, the songwriter of "Rich Men North of Richmond" – which has been number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks now – appeared onstage to wild applause. Comedian and close friend of Rogan, Tom Segura, introduced Anthony to the raucous crowd at the Austin, Texas venue, telling audience goers he had a "special treat" for them.

New Jersey Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver, the first black woman to serve as speaker of the state Assembly, died Tuesday after being hospitalized with an undisclosed illness. Oliver, 71, was serving as acting governor this week while Gov. Phil Murphy was vacationing in Italy. She was admitted to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston on Monday, Murphy’s office announced. Oliver, a Democrat from Essex County, rose to the post of Assembly speaker in 2010 before losing the seat to Vincent Pietro in 2013, Fox16 reported.
