Several Democratic members of New York’s congressional delegation, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and veteran Rep. Jerry Nadler, joined Friday in calls for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign amid a now-half-dozen allegations of sexual misconduct, as well as the lingering nursing home coronavirus scandal. “This week, the second sexual assault allegation and the sixth harassment allegation was leveled against Governor Cuomo,” said Ocasio-Cortez (D-Bronx/Queens) in a joint statement with Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-Bronx/Westchester), a fellow member of the progressive “Squad.”

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) called on Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) to leave his role after a woman accused him of groping her, joining five others who accused him of sexual harassment. “He can no longer serve as governor,” de Blasio remarked at a daily briefing on Thursday after he was asked about the latest allegations against Cuomo.

He also faces sexual harassment allegations by multiple women. Cuomo has denied the harassment allegations and his top aides have insisted that they followed federal guidelines when it came to nursing homes. His office has denied allegations that the death count was altered.

More than 55 Democratic state legislators called Thursday for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign — and the Assembly speaker said he would hold a meeting later in the day “on potential paths forward.” The statement from Cuomo’s fellow Democrats cited both the spiraling sexual harassment allegations against him and the cover-up of the total nursing home death toll and said that “he has lost the confidence of the public and the state legislature, rendering him ineffective in this time of most urgent need.”

(AP) -- New York's state Democratic Party chairman derided President Bush on Monday as "simple" and "that simplistic gentleman up there in the White House with his one- and two-syllable answers."The attack from state Assemblyman Herman Farrell came as New York's Democratic leadership gathered to discuss how to rally rank-and-file party members."Life is not simple. If it were simple, anybody could be president," Farrell said in a speech to members of the party's state committee. "As a matter of fact, simple is president."There was no immediate comment from the Bush campaign or from the Republican State Committee.
