Two months after the 2020 presidential election, less than a day after Congress certified the Electoral College results, and facing increasing pressure to resign, Donald Trump finally admitted on Thursday that he had lost and would not serve a second term.“Now Congress has certified the results. A new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th,” Trump said in a two-minute video posted to his Twitter feed. “My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power.”He did not mention the name of the man who defeated him, President-elect Joe Biden. There has been no indication from...

Mr. President, it’s time to end this dark charade. We’re one week away from an enormously important moment for the next four years of our country. On Jan. 5, two runoff races in Georgia will determine which party will control the Senate — whether Joe Biden will have a rubber stamp or a much-needed check on his agenda. Unfortunately, you’re obsessed with the next day, Jan. 6, when Congress will, in a pro forma action, certify the Electoral College vote. You have tweeted that, as long as Republicans have “courage,” they can overturn the results and give you four more...

The Electoral College has met to confirm Joe Biden as the president-elect. Despite President Trump's lawsuits challenging the results of the Nov. 3 election against Biden, 538 electors from all 50 states and Washington, D.C., convened Monday, and by Monday evening, they had given Biden the 270 votes he needed to claim the White House. Biden was expected to end the meeting with 306 electoral votes to Trump's 232, reflecting the popular votes from each of the jurisdictions. The gathering garnered more attention this cycle after key Republicans, such as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, made it the deadline for...

Senior Republicans recognised Joe Biden as the president-elect of the United States on Tuesday as President Donald Trump continued to deny the outcome of the election. In a significant break with the president, Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell congratulated Mr Biden and vice-president-elect Kamala Harris on their victory, a day after the electoral college confirmed the election result. “As of this morning our country has officially a president-elect and a vice-president-elect,” Mr McConnell said on the Senate floor. “Many of us hoped that the presidential election would yield a different result, but our system of government has processes to determine...

With President-elect Joe Biden being voted the winner of the 2020 election by the Electoral College and President Donald Trump seemingly on the way out of the White House in January, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) predicted Tuesday that the president’s “substantial influence” will remain in the GOP. Romney told “CNN Newsroom” that looking ahead to the 2024 presidential election, he did not think “Trumpism is going away” because the people rumored to run then are also “trying to appeal to kind of a populist approach.”

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — President Donald Trump lost a Wisconsin lawsuit Friday seeking to disqualify more than 221,000 ballots and overturn his loss to Democrat Joe Biden in the battleground state, the latest in a string of legal defeats. Reserve Judge Stephen Simanek ruled against every argument Trump made challenging ballots in the state’s two largest counties, saying the election was properly administered and there was no wrongdoing as the president alleged.

ATLANTA — Judge Timothy Batten in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia has dismissed the lawsuit. A similar suit in Michigan was also dismissed this morning. Powell will appeal to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, which dismissed a similar suit brought by attorney Lin Wood this weekend.

Very sadly for our Nation, it looks like Senator @JimInhofe will not be putting the Section 230 termination clause into the Defense Bill. So bad for our National Security and Election Integrity. Last chance to ever get it done. I will VETO!

Arizona certified its general election results Monday, cementing President-elect Joe Biden’s win in the state, as the Trump campaign’s legal team continued to allege voter fraud and protest the election results at a meeting with state lawmakers at a nearby hotel ballroom. Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, said as she certified the results that the state conducted its election with “transparency, accuracy and fairness...despite numerous unfounded claims to the contrary.” Republican Gov. Doug Ducey also took part in the certification, saying, “We do elections well here in Arizona,” and “the system is strong.” With the results certified,...

Free, fair elections are the lifeblood of our democracy. Charges of unfairness are serious. But calling an election unfair does not make it so. Charges require specific allegations and then proof. We have neither here. The Trump Presidential Campaign asserts that Pennsylvania’s 2020 election was unfair. But as lawyer Rudolph Giuliani stressed, the Campaign “doesn’t plead fraud. . . . [T]his is not a fraud case.” Instead, it objects that Pennsylvania’s Secretary of State and some counties restricted poll watchers and let voters fix technical defects in their mail-in ballots. It offers nothing more. This case is not about whether...

President-elect Joe Biden said Tuesday that the Trump administration has already begun to reach out to his transition team, and he described the effort as "sincere," a day after a federal agency released a letter to formally begin the transition of power. "Immediately, we've gotten outreach from the national security shop to just across the board," Biden said in an exclusive interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt. "And they're already working out my ability to get presidential daily briefs, we're already working out meeting with the Covid team in the White House and how to not only distribute but get...

While vowing to continue election legal challenges, President Donald Trump has directed his administration to start the official transition process for former Vice President Joe Biden. ...fight, and I believe we will prevail! Nevertheless, in the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same. — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 23, 2020On Monday afternoon, U.S. General Services Administrator Emily Murphy wrote a letter to Biden announcing she would make transition resources available to his team....

After weeks of delay, the head of the General Services Administration informed President-elect Joe Biden on Monday that the official governmental transition process has been approved. GSA Administrator Emily Murphy said in a letter that Biden, whom she referred to as "the apparent president-elect," is now able to access millions of dollars in federal funds and other resources to begin his transition to power. In her letter, Murphy also denied that she had been under pressure from the White House to delay the process. “I have dedicated much of my adult life to public service, and I have always strived...
