This may be the straw that breaks Bill Clinton’s back. Billy Jack Haynes, a retired American professional wrestler, confesses he was extremely intimidating in his day. That heavy-duty look attracted Governor Bill Clinton of Arkansas, as he needed a hit man and a drug runner – someone who could hold his weight amid the criminal acts Bill Clinton would ask of him. Billy Jack Haynes, a self-confessed former drug runner, has made a series of astonishing confessions in the past week, claiming that he was paid by Bill Clinton to kill David Kennedy, as well as providing “muscle” for the...

  • Leftists Are the REAL Racists, Not Conservatives

Any conservative will tell you the nasty names they’ve been called time and again by those on the left. There’s the obvious “deplorable” label which most of us have embraced as humorous. Then there are the standard sexist, xenophobe, islamophobe labels as well as the long-standing homophobe. But perhaps the most persistent accusation from the left is that conservatives are racist. This is a textbook example of psychological projection which places one’s undesirable feelings onto another rather than acknowledging them as their own. And the left is guilty of this more often than not. How do I know this? Because...

I buy almost all my food at the farmer's market and I am fortunate that I live near several different weekend markets. One reason I do this is that I like to support small businesses like farms. Another is that I care about where my food comes from and how, in the case of meat, it is treated and fed. Factory farming is a nightmare. My farmer's markets also accept WIC so anyone can come by and purchase fresh vegetables, herbs, fruit or more importantly: bacon. I gave out bacon from my pig farmer to my friends for Christmas because...

I'm not really one to get involved in "conspiracy" theories - but, like many here, I receive a number of emails from folks around the world on various topics.I have recently received more than a few, from some folks I know to be highly reputable, on some factors that have come to light about the school shootings in Sandy Hook. In the past I have just deleted these stories - not really worth my time to look farther into the latest 'wack-job' stuff. But this thing does seem to have some legs now. It seems to be a fact that the...
  • Grand Island Preschooler Asked to Change the Sign for His Name in School

Hunter Spanjer says his name with a certain special hand gesture, but at just three and a half years old, he may have to change it. "He's deaf, and his name sign, they say, is a violation of their weapons policy," explained Hunter's father, Brian Spanjer. Grand Island's "Weapons in Schools" Board Policy 8470 forbids "any instrument...that looks like a weapon," But a three year-old's hands? "Anybody that I have talked to thinks this is absolutely ridiculous. This is not threatening in any way," said Hunter's grandmother Janet Logue. "It's a symbol. It's an actual sign, a registered sign, through...

“Thanks for your concern; I have a Colt 45 and I know how to use it. I used to be able to hit a quarter at 50 feet 7 times out of 10.” Those were the words from Professor Emeritus Elliot Cramer to a student concerned about the Professor’s safety that prompted UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp to demand Cramer’s resignation as advisor to the Youth For Western Civilization Student Group. Apparently discussions about prowess in matters of self defense are not protected speech in the enlightened corridors of North Carolina’s Taxpayer Funded Public Universities. Send your expressions of outrage and...

Some of the readers here have received a response from Holden Thorp, the UNC Chancellor who canned a gun-owning professor for stating in an email he was prepared to defend himself in response to political enemies posting hateful fliers with his home address.
  • Tobacco road (global warming lawsuits coming?)

A little birdie recently chirped about some usual-suspect state attorneys general preparing a litigation strategy document for/with environmental pressure groups, providing a roadmap for cooperatively replicating the tobacco litigation of a decade ago in the "global warming" context, substituting that projected catastrophe for cancer and "big energy" for tobacco companies. The point of such exercise would not be to litigate the matter to conclusion — ever more challenging what with forced corrections of the temperature record, recent exposure of the woeful reliability of our own world's most reliable surface measuring network, and of course no global warming in a decade...

Apparently, Dianne Feinstein's reversal on the filibuster of Samuel Alito didn't pacify Cindy Sheehan enough. The former Bush gadfly now wants to take on the California Senator in a primary fight for her re-election: Cindy Sheehan, the peace activist who set up camp near President Bush's Texas ranch last summer, said Saturday she is considering running against Sen. Dianne Feinstein to protest what she called the California lawmaker's support for the war in Iraq. "She voted for the war. She continues to vote for the funding. She won't call for an immediate withdrawal of the troops," Sheehan told The Associated...

On those rare occasions that I write a column touching remotely on science, especially if I depart from the conventional wisdom of the greater scientific community, the contemptuous e-mails fill my inbox. Such was the case a few columns ago when I broached the subject of Intelligent Design (ID) after President Bush indicated his receptiveness to ID theory being taught alongside evolution in the public schools. The hostile e-mailers pointed out what a consummate idiot and criminal trespasser I was for treading on their real estate. They demanded I stick to law and politics, not because I know much more...
