NICE, France (AP) — The Islamic State group on Saturday claimed the Tunisian man who barreled his truck into a crowd in the French resort city of Nice was a "soldier" of the group, the first claim of responsibility for an attack that has claimed 84 lives and wounded more than 200 people. The claim — circulated on social media by a news outlet affiliated with the group — didn't name Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, the 31-year-old Tunisian who authorities say was behind the wheel as his truck crashed into a crowd of revelers at a fireworks display on Thursday. But...

Oliver DarcyJuly 15,2016 Newt Gingrich said Thursday night in the aftermath of the deadly truck attack in France that the US should issue a religious test to Muslims and deport those who are found to believe in Shariah, or Islamic law. The former House speaker made his comments on Fox News when host Sean Hannity asked, "What does this tragedy, this evil attack tonight, mean for that conflict and debate?" "Western civilization is in a war," Gingrich said. "We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background, and if they believe in Shariah, they should be...

An Islamic Mosque, funded and owned by a hardline, “fundamentalist” Saudi Arabian cleric, opened in the Nice just two weeks before the Southern French city was struck by a deadly terror attack. Town Mayor Christian Estrosi had fought a bitter legal battle with the French state in an attempt to stop it opening, claiming the owner, Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh (pictured left) “advocates Sharia law and destroyed all the churches on the Arabian Peninsula.” “Our intelligence agencies are worried about this place of worship,” the mayor said, before warned about “unregulated foreign funding,”...
