Fox News has learned former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich will make a major announcement about his presidential aspirations in Atlanta on Thursday. Washington sources close to the looming Gingrich campaign tell Fox News they have been told to be ready to travel to Atlanta Thursday when Gingrich will make an announcement about forming a presidential exploratory committee. All signs point to Gingrich officially entering the 2012 race and these sources believe that Newt will throw his hat into the ring on Thursday by announcing that he has completed the proper paperwork to form an explanatory committee.

Today's Washington Post includes a somewhat controversial quote from former Speaker Newt Gingrich on the subject of political consultants: "Consultants, in my opinion, are stupid," he tells them. ... If I throw away African Americans, and then I...

Politics » Former House speaker says stopping Obama is the important thing. Gearing up for his fourth -- and what could prove to be his most difficult -- campaign, Sen. Bob Bennett drew the endorsement of the architect of the Republicans' last takeover of Congress: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. "The best thing Utah can do to stop [President Barack] Obama and get conservatism back on the march is re-elect Bob Bennett," said Gingrich, who led the 1994 GOP election surge. If Republicans fail to oppose the Obama administration, Gingrich said, "we're going to become a secular, socialist system run...

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich predicted disaster for his party if the conservative wing of the GOP continues to field independent candidates to the right of the party’s nominee. “If we get into a cycle where there are tea parties and there are conservative third-party candidates, we will make [Nancy] Pelosi speaker for life,” Gingrich told POLITICO in an interview Thursday, calling the practice “totally destructive.” But Gingrich, who broke with many fellow conservatives by getting behind the liberal Republican who was nominated but ultimately dropped out and backed the Democrat in a New York special congressional election, admitted that...
