The amended filing alleges that Louis Farrakhan of Chicago should have known Nasir Farrakhan’s driver’s license was either suspended or revoked, and that the senior Farrakhan should have taken steps to keep his vehicle from being used by his son. The son of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has been arraigned on drunken driving charges. Forty-four-year-old Joshua Nasir Farrakhan of Chicago allegedly fled the scene of an accident on the Indiana Toll Road last month. He could face up to four years in prison if convicted. Farrakhan did not enter a plea during a court hearing yesterday. Porter Superior Court Judge Julia Jent scheduled a plea hearing for August 12. VALPARAISO, Ind. -- A Gary couple has filed a lawsuit against the son of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan over a hit-and-run accident that led to his arrest on drunken driving charges. The lawsuit filed in Porter Superior Court by Charles and Gladys Peterson seeks damages for injuries and property damage and compensation for medical care against 44-year-old Joshua Nasir H. Farrakhan of Chicago.

Farrakhan of Chicago is being held at the Porter County Jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Farrakhan was driving his Hummer on the Indiana Toll Road in LaPorte County when the accident happened.
