LAS VEGAS (AP) - The shotgun killing of a Las Vegas woman on a neighbor’s doorstep as she fled from her ex-husband and pleaded for help illustrates a deadly trend found in a study of the link between firearms and domestic violence-related homicides, gun-control advocates say. Everytown for Gun Safety and the Nevada Network Against Domestic Violence released a survey this week that they said shows women in Nevada are far more likely to be fatally shot by an intimate partner than women in other states.

In last night’s episode of Quantico, "Turn," before a terrorist attack against the FBI Training Academy has even concluded, a visiting senator (Marcia Cross) rails against firearms, declaring their use a “privilege,” not a right. At least ABC’s Quantico got it right about how quickly opponents of the Second Amendment rush to politicize any shooting. Sen. The Conservative Political Action Conference earlier this month almost made me forget about this fancy piece of fiction from The New York Times editorial board, which is that the AR-15 is an automatic weapon. The board was voicing their support for Americans to sue the gun industry; it’s a position that would certainly be abused by anti-gun liberals to litigate the gun manufacturers out of existence. A Hollywood industry group is encouraging film entertainment producers, executives and writers to include anti-2nd Amendment propaganda in television and film plots. The Entertainment Industries Council (EIC)is providing Hollywood insiders to include scenes that make gun ownership look like a bad idea. EIC claims this is part of its mission of: “Encouraging the entertainment industry to more effectively address and accurately depict major health and social issues.”

On March 14, Journey United Methodist Church held an “educational seminar” on gun control in partnership with Nevadans for Background Checks. The seminar was attended by “20 or so congregants.” Universal background checks — like those in California, Colorado, and Paris — are on the ballot in Nevada this November. And while they are ostensibly being pushed by a group represented as local and/or grassroots — Nevadans for Background Checks — the Las Vegas Sun previously reported that the Nevada background check push is “largely bankrolled” by Micheal Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety.

Trash magazine Cosmopolitan announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety (I'm not going to link it) to push a gun control agenda. The magazine will run a propaganda piece in the March issue called "Singled Out," warning single women they may be dating a man who is a firearms owner. And he may become "disgruntled."

It's not often that I give Democrats a pat on the back on policy, especially Second Amendment issues, but Gov. Terry McAuliffe certainly deserves a nod with his announcement that he will restore concealed carry reciprocity agreements with 25 states. These agreements were expected to be revoked on February 1 in accordance with Attorney General Mark Herring’s unilateral action on this issue prior to the Christmas holiday. Advocates of gun control raked in $3.6 million over the last two years to place an initiative to tighten background checks for gun purchases and transfers in Nevada on the November ballot and ensure it passes. The Second Amendment is our only national gun law, and when it was written, they did not have a weapon of mass destruction - the AR-15, which can fire off hundreds of shots in the time a musket could only fire one. The Second Amendment only adds to our gun violence problems.

The language is very similar to the proposed ballot measure in Nevada backed by the group and follows in the wake of a successful push in Washington in which the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, allied to MDA, chipped in $4 million to help win voters in that state in 2014. Michael Bloomberg keeps pouring $50 million into his Everytown organization to push gun control. That's just a portion of the money he's spending to push gun control. Bloomberg is spending money not just on the political battle, but also on funding research that he can use to push for more gun control and training the media on how to properly cover the issue.
