My nephew, Nick, had a BBC newscast on about human smugglers in Thailand.  It appears that the BBC is a bit less shy about showing weapons than many U.S. outlets, but that could simply be perception on this one show.  I watch very little TV.    From BBC.com: Manit told us his district had long been used by human traffickers to transfer migrants from boats to trucks. What is this thing? It’s a homemade, custom sized, plywood lower receiver for an AR-15. No permits, no licenses, no serial numbers. No casting, no machining. Not even very much metal. Just precise measurements, very careful assembly, and lots of sanding. And some epoxy. Oh, and quality hardwood furniture grade plywood. And it’s going to work. As a pistol. Follow the progress over at Summer Patriot / Winter Soldier ... John Jay is also hard at work on another wildcat cartridge, this time a .375 shorty.

Gun store owner refuses to give feds customer list OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The owner of an Oceanside store that sells various gun parts to build a rifle from scratch refused to turn over his customer list to federal agents. Dimitrios Karras, owner of Ares Armor, said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents were investigating their business, not for what they sell, but for the people who purchase their products. Karras said the ATF threatened to shutter their business if they didn’t hand over the names of 5,000 customers who have purchased an 80 percent lower receiver (the...
