Linksys has just revealed at CES 2016 that all the WRT routers now have DD-WRT support, making this the first company of its type to fully embrace an open source solution.Linksys is one of the most important companies that builds networking hardware, and it's known for its quality hardware. In this case we're talking about routers in the WRT series, which are already very good. The company decided to partner up with DD-WRT in order to provide better support for their products. Many Linksys users were already installing DD-WRT and other similar products on their routers, so the company figured out...
  • Linksys wireless router effective speed greater than 10MB VANITY

I have FIOS fiber internet access 15megabits per second at home. Using wdc.speakeasy.net with my wired NIC I get 13MB or greater always, but with wireless 802.11G the max I can get is 8MB. No big problem, but I wonder if anyone else has seen effective speeds greater than 8MB .I would definitely recommend Verizon FIOS fiber internet access for anyone who can get it.Does anyone else who has FIOS at home able to get greater than 1.5 MB upload speeds?

I am almost too tired to ask at this point. Been working on this for hours, but here goes. I bought an HP laptop and got a Linksys wireless router. I installed the wireless software on my main PC as told to do. Router connected fine with my cable modem, no problem. Then when I tried to install it on my new laptop, I cannot get wireless connection. I do get regular internet connection, but no wireless connection. I've contacted Linksys by phone, I've contacted HP troubleshoot by online chat, and still no one can fix the problem. I get...

Hiya guys, normally I don't post this type of thread, but I just finished upgrading my neighbor's network to a wireless network and they gave me their old Cable/DSL router (all I have on my inhouse network is a hub, which is OK, but I have more 'puters to add to my network and need a router and the hub to connect them all) If anyone out there has the installer CD for the Linksys Network EVERYWHERE Cable/DSL 4-Port Router, Model NR041 and who can burn an IMAGE file so I can make a CD here, please FReepmail me ASAP.

I'm sorry to distrub your bandwidth, but I'm looking for a helpful Freeper. This weekend I tried to install a wireless network at my parents house. I purchased a Linksys wireless router, and a Linksys PCI Wireless Network card. Setting up the wireless router on my parent's PC was a breeze... I followed the step by step directions and it went on like a champ. The PCI card also wasn't much trouble. I found a slot in my Dell, and it configured itself. (Oh, both systems are running XP Home.) Okay so the PCI card found the router, and it...

Cisco Systems has issued a patch for a security flaw in one of its Linksys routers that could give hackers access to consumers' home networks. Alan Rateliff II, an independent security consultant, on Friday said he discovered a vulnerability in the Linksys WRTS54G 802.11g wireless router. The flaw gives hackers a free pass into the Web-based configuration page of the router when the firewall function is turned off.

I have heard rumors regarding a Class Action lawsuit against Linksys / Cisco regarding the WRV54G. I too have had inumerable problems with this "VPN" router. Here is a partial list of my most recent. Also, I build networks for a for a living so I am not a rookie with routers or VPN connectivity. - Router "goes away" every day or two and takes multiple resets to get it working - Procedures for getting the microsoft software VPN client to work with it have only worked once and fail to work reliably or at all since. - I have...
  • Have any FReepers successfully networked Win XP with Win 98/SE?

Have any FReepers successfully networked Win XP with Win 98/SE? I'm thinking of upgrading to XP on one machine. A pre-install XP compatibility program tells me that XP doesn't support Netbeui, which my Linksys wireless LAN appears to use.
