It's just me in the business so I can help a friend who is a building contractor. 5-10 hours a week. So I don't want to pay large setup or annual fees. I just don't want 87,000 heavily armed IRS agents battering my door down. I'm in North Carolina if that matters.

I’m often asked to describe the most common way people screw up their self-defense claim. The truth is there isn’t a single most common way. Too many people manage to find an apparently infinite number of ways to step outside the bounds of the law. Often, there were a bunch of exits off that jail-bound freeway that they could have taken, but didn’t.For most normally law-abiding people this is not done out of malice, but ignorance. I mean ignorance not in a derogatory sense, but in a technical sense–they didn’t know where the legal boundaries were, and stepped over them...

...it will not end well. This is a former criminal defense lawyer who explains why NO ONE, especially the innocent, should waive their 5th amendment rights. Seriously. DON'T DO IT MR. PRESIDENT. This is the best legal advice video I have ever watched. Period.

Several years ago, we had a burglary and guns were stolen from our house. About a year ago, one of them turned up on a thug, who was reaching for it in his waistband and subsequently was tasered by the police before he was able to use it one them. In the end, the gun helped to put him away, but even with priors (including a shooting about 10 years back) he only received a sentence of 3 ½ to 7 years from our pathetic “justice” system. Fast forward to the present. I was informed that I could get my...

My son got arrested and paid a fine for drunk in public. The police had no reason to subject him for a sobriety check. Isn't that like a unlawful search/seizure? Can he go back and change his plea and fight it to get it off his record? Thanks

I withdrew as a member of an LLC over 3 months ago. I have asked the other members to buy me out, but all I am getting are very low offers that aren't in line with the reality of the value of my interest. I am compelled to litigate, but I have run out of funds and cannot afford an attorney any longer. I need to sell this asset to pay some debts. Our Operating Agreement has a buy-sell clause in it with a way to determine the value of my interest, but the remaining members (partners) have so far...

In February '04 my wife gave birth to a son who suffered a massive brain injury 12 hours after birth. After much counseling and consideration we have decided to consult with a leading med/mal attorney who has been consulting with experts regarding the merits of a possible case against a number of providers that were involved prior to as well as after delivery. My question is regarding fees. I believe there are general standards regarding fees and I'd like to know what is appropriate and reasonable. Is this something that can be negotiated? The attorney reviewing this matter is a...
