Did you recieve the goods? Did you promise to pay?

If so, then pay it.

I agree with rudeboy.

Go to a local lawyer and get legal advice for your specific situation, consistent with your local laws.

I am NOI a lawyer, but I would like to caution you, that just because the debt is “unsecured” doesn’t mean they cannot collect it from you. That’s probably why you are being served, they can go to court and garnish your wages, possibly get money out of your bank account, if the judge orders it so.

See a local lawyer ASAP. What you don’t know CAN hurt you and no general legal advice you might get on the internet will be sufficient to take the place of the local, personalized legal advice that you need.

SInce it’s gone this far, go see a lawyer, he mi9ght be able to negotiate something for you, such as reduced payments, or a less than 100% payoff, but at this point you NEED a lawyer to represent you, not just give you general advice on the internat.

You need an attorney. This is a list of some who support RKBA. If you have to pay one, you may as well pay a conservative one.

They are most likely serving you papers so that they can get a judgment against you. If you fail to answer the summons, a default judgment will be issued against you automatically. Demand validation of the debt.

fight it don't ignore it get educated get a lawyer
Bill collectors file suit in hopes you wont show up in court giving them a default judgment.
Making it difficult and expensive for them may cause them to think twice.
SHOW UP in court this not the end only the beginning.
