    ABC 'News' ^ | 6/29/22 | Michael R. Sisak
NEW YORK -- Donald Trump is no longer in contempt of court, a New York judge ruled Wednesday. Judge Arthur Engoron, who declared the former president in contempt on April 25 for being slow to respond to a civil subpoena issued by New York’s attorney general, said he has now met conditions required to lift the sanction following a protracted legal battle. Trump last month paid $110,000 in fines he racked up as a result of the contempt finding. The money, paid directly to Attorney General Letitia James’ office, will continue to be held in an escrow account while Trump...

Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) declared Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Last Word” that former President Donald Trump “is going into a season of legal reckoning.” Anchor Lawrence O’Donnell said, “The evidence since your case was filed has developed very much in your favor. Including much of what we heard in the January 6 committee from people who actually attack the Capital, saying on video that Donald Trump sent them there to do that. That is your essence of your lawsuit.”

Former Trump White House senior adviser Jared Kushner dismissed threats from then-White House counsel Pat Cipollone and his team to resign ahead of the Jan. 6, 2021, riots as “whining,” according to testimony aired during Thursday night’s committee hearing. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), a member of the House select committee investigating the Capitol riots, asked Kushner during a recorded deposition whether he was aware of instances where Cipollone threatened to resign leading up to Jan. 6.

A former professor at the University of South Florida is suing the university’s Board of Trustees for over $100,000 in damages, alleging bias and discrimination. Andrew Bugajski (pictured), who worked for the College of Nursing, stated that Usha Menon, dean and senior associate vice president for USF Health, discriminated against him with derisive identity-based comments and “hostility.” As a result, he “suffered damage to his professional and personal reputations,” “mental anguish,” and lost income, according to documents filed in Hillsborough County court. Bugajski said he was “forced to resign” in May 2021 after nearly three years’ employment at the university...

Deranged Texas killer Salvador Ramos had been trying to buy a gun for at least eight months — and openly chatted about his reputation as a likely school shooter in social media messages posted in the months before Tuesday’s attack, officials announced Friday. “Ramos asked his sister to help him buy a gun” as far back as Sept. 21, Texas Department of Public Safety director Col. Steven McCraw announced Friday as he detailed the killer’s online activity. Then Ramos — who legally bought the rifle he used after turning 18 last week — had numerous group chats on Instagram in...

Elon Musk warned Twitter users that they are “being manipulated” and told them to turn off the platform’s algorithmic newsfeed, coming as the firm’s legal department apparently said he committed a violation of a non-disclosure agreement. “You are being manipulated by the algorithm in ways you do not realize … Easy to switch back and forth to see the difference,” Musk wrote on Twitter. The Tesla CEO advised other users to switch to seeing the latest Twitter posts immediately by tapping the Twitter home button, tapping the stars button on the upper right of the screen, and selecting “latest tweets.”...

Former President Donald Trump's presidential campaign has been ordered to pay nearly $1.3 million in legal fees to former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman by a New York court arbitrator. The award, handed down on Tuesday, comes after Trump filed a complaint against Manigault Newman over her 2018 book, "Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House," in which she called Trump a racist and suggested that he was in "real and serious" mental decline.

Surety Bonds are required for every elected and appointed official throughout the United States - including State School Boards, Districts, Mayors, Sheriffs, and County Officials. A mother with a 16-year-old boy who has autism begged the schools to let her son have an exemption. They refused. When forced to wear the masks he became distraught and he harmed himself so badly that he had to be hospitalized in a mental institution. The mother obtained the bond for the superintendent of her school district. The superintendent was carrying a $4 million liability per bond claim so the mother served the superintendent...

A family alleges that Riverside County is liable for an employee’s death from COVID-19 and his wife’s debilitating “long-haul” virus symptoms after ignoring his pleas to work from home and implement safeguards at his workplace. Michael Haywood’s widow and one of his adult sons held a news conference Monday, Jan. 10, outside Riverside County Superior Court, where attorney V. An analysis of the Census Bureau’s monthly Current Population Survey (CPS) from November 2021 shows the total immigrant population (legal and illegal) in the U.S. hit 46.2 million, the highest number ever recorded in American history. Immigrants are also referred to by the government as the “foreign-born”. There were a total of 46.2 million immigrants (legal and illegal) in the country in November 2021. This is the largest number of immigrants ever recorded in any government survey or census going back to 1850. As a share of the total U.S. population, immigrants were 14.2 percent in November 2021 — the...

Since President Biden took office in January, federal courts across the country have ruled against his administration time and again, finding many of his policies violate the Constitution. The Biden legal defeats have extended nationwide, impacting a wide range of issues — most recently vaccine mandates. On Tuesday, federal judges blocked the administration from enforcing two mandates requiring millions of Americans to get the COVID-19 vaccine. In one case, Judge Terry Doughty of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana issued a preliminary injunction halting the start of Biden's national vaccine mandate for health care workers. The...
  • The ACLU Thinks Kyle Rittenhouse's Civil Liberties Got Too Much Protection

The American Civil Liberties Union should not cavalierly take the side of prosecutors against the concept of self-defense. Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old who shot and killed two men during the riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last summer, was acquitted on Friday. Prosecutors had charged him with first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree intentional homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide, and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, but the jury was persuaded by Rittenhouse's argument that he acted in self-defense. For anyone who had followed the trial closely, this outcome is unsurprising. The prosecution simply did not meet its burden of proof, and Rittenhouse's...

We know that the government has issued blanket liability protection for the COVID jabs. This means if you are one of the many thousands who have an adverse reaction to a COVID vaccination you have no legal recourse (as in this nurse's story: https://bit.ly/3tIe8BF). I have a question. Has anyone asked their provider (doctor, nurse, or technician) to sign a release waiving their blanket liability protection? In other words, if they want to badger you into the jab are they willing to put a little skin in the game if something goes wrong?

A group of federal workers and contractors filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government over COVID-19 vaccination mandates that were announced earlier this month by President Joe Biden. The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Washington district court, is asking a court to declare unlawful Biden’s executive order and a Department of Defense memorandum in August mandating all military members get the vaccine. Lawyers argue that members of the Christian faith are required “to refuse a medical intervention, including a vaccination, if his or her informed conscience comes to this sure judgment,” and it further stipulates that “naturally acquired immunity provides greater...
