Some mildly good news for Bannon.

Chief Justice Roberts has ordered the Biden DOJ to respond to the emergency stay application to keep him out of jail by 4 pm this coming Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 4 pm.

At that point, Steve’s clock will have ticked down to 4 days left before his prison report date of 7/1/24.

The House must file an amicus brief in support of June 26. The evening of June 26 is when the Supreme Court (or Chief Justice Roberts acting on his own) will start considering the stay application.

The House must be on file before the Supreme Court starts that process for its views to be heard.

Two letter response coming from DOJ — FU

Why should they care? DOJ is untouchable.

Then Roberts will grant Bannon’s motion and stay his sentence pending further examination. And Trump will pardon him next January.

Roberts doesn’t have any jurisdiction over the DOJ but he does over the inferior courts...

can roberts do anything

Old quote from President Andrew Jackson -- "[Chief Justice] John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it”

Note for sticklers: This is the standard paraphrase of Jackson's remark but it is not truly a literal historical quote.

It's the same concept as the Stalin quote after Stalin was informed that the Pope was displeased with him: "How many divisions does the Pope have?"

The Department of Just Us will have to provide justification for why some are imprisoned — and others are not — for the same thing. An obvious case of selective prosecution.

A lot of people mistakenly think that President Jackson was being ordered to do something by the court... he wasn’t... the defendant in the case was the State of Georgia.

I think Bannons case is a little different, not sure, in that he was advised by his counsel to ignore the supeona. He was following his attorneys legal advice.

“Roberts doesn’t have any jurisdiction over the DOJ “

No, but he has power over them. If they flip him the finger....they lose everything he sees from them. And he DOES have jurisdiction over that case in which DOJ is a party.

Next time you are in court for a speeding ticket or something... sneer at the judge, roll your eyes a lot, laugh at him. Let us know how it goes.

Going way beyond my legal understanding here but could Bannon’s case (and Navarro’s, et al., expand into a type of class-action situation with all those being threatened or prosecuted for ignoring Govt. subpoenas having future or current punishment’s “stayed” pending further examination, until we the public are satisfied that there is no “two-tier” justice system where AGs like Garland and Holder can ignore personal subpoenas from Congress that they don’t “consider valid” while bankrupting and imprisoning people for the same thing?

Their RINO friends will come to their rescue. The Republicans won’t do squat to punish the Dems.

Too bad he didn't do this for Peter Navarro.

Peter Navarro is pretty hard core and he didn't really push as hard to stay out of jail as Bannon has.

Mark my words, a lot of people are going to regret putting Navarro in jail even if Trump is not elected.

If Trump is elected Navarro is going to have a field day.

Letting a guy like Navarro have an insiders view of the DC corrupt “justice “ system and it's jails is a going to prove to be a huge mistake.
