CRAWFORD, Texas -- A volunteer for John Kerry said Friday he picked up a flier in Bush-Cheney headquarters in Gainesville, Fla., promoting Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group the Bush campaign has insisted for weeks it has no connection to. The Kerry campaign e-mailed the flier to news organizations Friday, declaring that the Bush-Cheney campaign was "busted" for coordinating "in their smear campaign against John Kerry." At Bush-Cheney campaign headquarters outside Washington, spokesman Steve Schmidt said: "The Bush-Cheney campaign has nothing to do with that piece of paper. ... I don't know how it showed up at the campaign...

Using neon fliers that warn students in five languages to ''Look out," a Dorchester peace group is helping to alert teenagers that they have the right to keep their names off school lists given to military recruiters. Dorchester People for Peace is working alongside several community and outreach groups to spread the word about a little-known provision of the federal No Child Left Behind Act, which went into effect in 2002. Schools are now required to release the names, addresses, and phone numbers of high school juniors and seniors to military recruiters. Parents and students in Boston have until the...

Slipstream By Wayne Boettcher Posted 08/06/2004 Conservative Americans are often quite knowledgeable and aware of many references, books and great websites they find all the time in their daily lives. It's sad for us to see the unknowing liberals charge around aimlessly spouting propaganda in their frustration and anger at uncomprehended national and world events. And yet these energetic but erroneous advocates often influence the inexperienced undecideds. How can we let both groups in on the "secrets" that do not trickle down through local newspapers, popular news magazines, or common TV news? One method would be to distribute small...

A second leaflet carried three...

For the first time in decades, Israeli Air Force planes dropped leaflets over Gaza City on Sunday, calling on the Palestinian population not to help terrorists. “This is the first time we’re doing this in Gaza,” a military source told Maariv Online. “The Palestinian children read the leaflets out to the adults, who do not always know how to read and write. It is a very effective method.” The flyers state that helping terrorists does not pay. They also consisted of the names of two wanted men, in the hope that Gaza residents would identify them and refuse to cooperate...

A months-long controversy surrounding the Boy Scouts of America and its practice of sending home fliers with Portland schoolchildren has resulted in a new policy for all outside youth-oriented groups. The School Committee voted unanimously Wednesday night to require all such organizations - such as Little League and 4-H - to print disclaimers on their forms indicating that their views "are not necessarily the views of the Portland Public Schools system." The new policy came as a disappointment to parents who wanted the school board to take a bolder stand against the Boy Scouts' refusal to admit openly gay individuals...

The two organizations - which preach about saving the white race - hit Swampscott and the surrounding towns with their pamphlets twice a year.
