Senator James Lankford (R-OK) said Tuesday on CNN’s “The Arena” that someone being deported for illegally being in the United States should get due process “before they’re removed from the country.” Host Kasie Hunt said, “President Trump sat down for an extensive interview with Kristen Welker at ‘Meet the Press’ over the weekend. She asked him whether he would uphold the Constitution in providing due process to people who are deported and his answer was not yes. Are you confident that President Trump will uphold the Constitution?” Lankford said, “I am. I think his answer was, I’ve got good attorneys...

Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) formally joined the Senate Republican leadership team on Wednesday, having won an uncontested bid to become the vice chair of the Senate GOP Policy Committee. Lankford ran unchallenged for the position and will replace Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), who moved up to become chair of the committee. As vice chair, Lankford is chiefly tasked with keeping the minutes at the weekly Tuesday policy luncheon. The move into leadership came after an eventful past year for the Oklahoma senator, who was the chief GOP negotiator on the bipartisan border package that was swiftly rejected by conservatives...

Lankford’s ‘compromise’ border bill legalizes the invasion... The legislation waters down existing immigration law and provides the president with toothless emergency powers, all while lavishing billions more tax dollars on Ukraine. You’ve got to hand it to Senator James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Mitch McConnell’s other lieutenants in the Senate. They really did manage to solve the illegal immigration crisis. They’re simply going to make the invasion legal. In exchange for us agreeing to an endless flow of illegal immigrants across the southern border, Democrats will get another $60 billion for Ukraine. Some call that bipartisanship, but we call it disenfranchisement...

James Lankford (R-OK) has found himself again at the center of a political storm as an old deposition testimony resurfaced, coinciding with his involvement in a compromised uniparty border bill. Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), hours before his months-long work on a pro-migration border deal is projected to go down in flames, defended Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas against impeachment. Asked about the House’s effort to impeach the embattled secretary amid an unprecedented border crisis that began under his watch, Lankford said, “It’ll fail in the Senate,” while mockingly taunting, “If I can use the House term, it’ll be dead on arrival when it comes over.” Lankford on House Republicans trying to impeach Mayorkas again “It’ll fail in the Senate. If I could use the House term, it’ll be dead on...

My colleague Bonchie wrote on some of the problems in the Senate border bill earlier. As more comes out, it's even worse than people thought. People have been talking about the emergency provisions kicking in to shut down the border at 5,000 illegal aliens on average over seven consecutive days or 8,500 in one day. You have the discretion to activate it at an average of 4,000 a day over seven consecutive days, but you have to activate it at 5,000. And yes, that's ridiculous because you should just be applying the provision to enforce the law from the first...

Before he became a leading voice for conservative causes on Capitol Hill, U.S. Senator James Lankford spent more than a decade as the director of youth programming at the Falls Creek Baptist Conference Center, a sprawling campground about 80 miles south of Oklahoma City that attracts more than 50,000 campers in grades six through 12 each year. The Republican lawmaker’s tenure at the camp is a prominent feature of his political profile... In 2009, while Lankford worked at the camp, the family of a 13-year-old girl sued a 15-year-old boy who was alleged to have had sex with her at...

Senator James Lankford (R-OK) said Monday on FNC’s “Fox & Friends” that people should read the bipartisan border bill he co-authored before going off on a Facebook post. Lankford said, “People have got to be able to read it and go through it themselves. Don’t just go off of a Facebook post somewhere what the bill says.” He continued, “The key aspect of this, again, is are we, as Republicans, going to have press conferences and complain the borders bad and then intentionally leave it open after the worst month in American history in December? Now we’ve got to actually...

The deal includes provisions to raise standards for asylum screening and to process claims faster, ends the practice known as “catch and release,” and provides a new authority to close the border when crossings reach a set threshold. The full supplemental — which includes funds for the border, Israel and Ukraine aid, and other foreign policy priorities — totals $118 billion, with about $20 billion going to the border component. Lankford called it “a once-in-a-generation opportunity to close our open border and give future administrations the effective tools they need to stop the border chaos and protect our nation.”

Under no circumstances should this bill — which would make massive, permanent changes to immigration law — be passed next week.Yesterday, a reporter standing outside the Senate chamber told me that, after four months of secrecy, The Firm™️ plans to release the text of the $106 billion supplemental aid / border-security package—possibly as soon as tomorrow. Wasting no time, she then asked, “if you get the bill by tomorrow, will you be ready to vote on it by Tuesday?” The words “hell no” escaped my mouth before I could stop them. Those are strong words where I come from. (Sorry,...

The Republican who helped draft the Senate’s pending pro-migration border bill, Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), is getting roasted online for a tweet that blamed the 9/11 atrocity on illegal immigrants. “All of the 9/11 attackers were present in the US illegally,” said the February 2 tweet from his office. “We shouldn’t wait until the next horrific terror attack to realize that our wide-open southern border is a national security risk.” Andrew McCarthy, a lawyer who led the federal prosecution of the terrorists in the first attempt to blow up the Twin Towers in 1993, responded: It is obvious that the...

During an appearance on this week’s “Fox News Sunday broadcast,” Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) pushed back against critics of his efforts to secure a deal on a border security package. The Oklahoma Senator said the language of the bill had not been finalized and attributed speculation to “Internet rumors.” “The challenge that Senator Cruz has and a bunch of other folks is they’re so waiting to be able to read the bill on this and this has been our great challenge of being able to fight through the final words to be able to get the bill text out so...

Senator James Lankford (R-OK) said on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday” that his Republican colleagues criticizing the bipartisan border deal are doing so because “it’s a presidential election year.” Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) said, “This bill normalizes 5,000 people coming in a day.” Lankford said, “Right now these internet rumors is all the people are running on. It would be absolutely absurd for me to agree to 5,000 people a day. This bill focuses on getting us to zero illegal crossings a day. There’s no amnesty. It increases the number of border patrol agents, increases asylum officers. It...

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) has caved to the bipartisan immigration framework that would reward illegal immigration and only encourage more foreign graduates to take jobs from American graduates. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will travel to the White House on Wednesday to discuss Ukraine aid and a potential border deal. Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) has led negotiations for Republicans over a potential deal with Democrats on border policy. However, the deal, as currently presented, is functionally dead in the House, as Johnson...
