Divers in Madagascar have found a silver bar weighing about 50 kilograms (110 pounds) that they believe was part of the treasure of pirate Captain Kidd. The bar was presented to Madagascar's president, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, in a ceremony Thursday on the island of Sainte Marie, near the country's northeast coast. The bar was found in a bay off the island, the diving team said. The team was led by Barry Clifford, an American undersea explorer who has been searching for pirate treasure for many decades. Clifford believes there could be more treasure on the bay floor where he found the...

Underwater explorers in Madagascar say they have found what is thought to be the treasure of notorious Scottish pirate William Kidd. Soldiers on Sainte Marie island have been guarding the 50kg silver bar after divers brought it to shore. Madagascar's president as well as UK and US diplomats received the suspected treasure at a ceremony on the island. Capt Kidd was executed in 1701 for piracy after returning from a voyage to the Indian Ocean.

This evening at approximately 6:15 CDT time here in Nashville I went to the Davis Kidd Booksellers at 4007 Hillsboro Road in the Green Hills section of Nashville. My wife had been by two days ago and reserved 2 copies for us of UNFIT and was told that the store would have them yesterday. I had planned to stop then but was too busy. When I went to the front desk I was told to go to the back counter where they hold reserve books. I went up to the bespectacled young lady and asked "Where are ya'll hiding Unfit...

BELLEVUE -- A former University of Idaho football player said he is not tied to terrorists and is shocked at the way he's been treated by federal agents the past two weeks. Abdullah Al-Kidd was arrested as he prepared to board a jetliner at Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C. He is jailed in Boise, Idaho, as a material witness in an investigation of an alleged terrorist group with links to the university. "Basically, don't believe the hype," Al-Kidd told the King County Journal during a jailhouse interview on Sunday night. "I'm not a terrorist. I'm as American as apple...

TAIPEI - Taiwan's parliament has demanded a 15-per-cent price cut for the navy's planned purchase of four Kidd-class destroyers from the United States, it was reported yesterday. A team of naval officers left for the US yesterday to discuss the discount which the Taiwanese parliament demanded while approving the arms purchase budget, the China Times said. If successful, the 'bargaining trip' could save Taiwan up to NT$4.3 billion (S$216 million), it said. The navy declined to comment on the report. The Defence Ministry has proposed to acquire the four second-hand warships for US$875 million (S$1.5 billion). The US Defence Security...
